I play basses of many shapes and love them all. Ony bass that wasn't ergonomically friendly to me was an '85 4003 Ric. Pretty bass (flamed maple Fireglo), sounded good...

You and me, both! I'd played FSOs off an on over the years, but they never felt great or inspired me - even though their owners absolutely loved them. I can play them, I just don't care. Plus, their owners inevitably insist they play like butter which leaves things messy.

Yeah, from an unknown, it would have to be through a reputable third party and/or with a credit card. Still a hassle, but at least if there's a problem you have recourse.

You are either a Thunderbird person or you are not. It is like playing a Ric, only moreso.

For me it was feel. Sound was ok but i didnt give it much chance.

Maybe I am so used to modern Thunderbirds that it didn't work. But I play other things, too. Who knows. I flat didn't like the one I had. It is in a far better place now.

I mostly agree about FSOs, but this Carvin for me is a huge exception to that rule. The neck is just incredible and the roundness and smoothness of the body just work. If I could describe a solid object as gooey, it would be this. It's like Hotblack Desiato's stunt ship.

yeah, not impressed with the ones I tried……unnecessarily large….
