I read something years ago that studied this and found the vast, vast majority of redheads could be traced back to Ireland. Must be something in the clover. There are some exceptions, but they are not all that common. My wife is a redhead. Her father's family is from England several generations back.Lots of Irish moved to Scotland, and lots the other way. It’s a pretty usual thing.
I had a red headed Scotsman as a boss for a while - nice guy but he could EXPLODE - who was a bit taken aback when he found out that they had originally been an Irish family.
