For what it is worth, I plugged the Flamingo with Thunderbuckers directly into Cubase. Then did the same with the 2001. I screwed up the export and closed Cubase without saving the files. Operator error. Anyway, to my ears, with the same strings, the '01 TB+ pickups are right there with Thunderbuckers. They are a little noise and a little brighter. Same punch, same tight bass, same tight treble, similar overtones.

I may have cured myself of GAS. I didn't cure myself of being a luddite. That is the problem with not using a tool like Cubase all the time. It is way too easy to forget a detail.
