I think I’m going to try that on the VP I put the Thunderbuckers in. I like them now but suspect they can be even better.

Stock pots should be 500k linear taper.

Those of you who've changed pot values in your basses, was it pretty much always 250k changed to 500k? Why did you make the change and what were the results?

In the treble guitar world, the rule of thumb has long been 250k for single coils, 500k for humbuckers. Lower values bleed off more treble, so I'm guessing that's why the 250k seems common with bass humbuckers. But it's a bit more complex.

FWIW, I use 500 for volume, 250 for tone pots. To my hearing, it adds a little weight to the tone

I was never drawn to the late '60s version of a T-bird back then. I've grown to like it ok, but back in the '70s when I bought my '64 - the Gen2 T-bird just seemed like a club-footed version. But like I said - time changes opinions sometimes and that is the case for me now.

I was of the same mind. Until I got the ‘13. Now I also have the ‘21 and two stellar BaCHs. I love them. A lot has to do with the way they fit my frame. They are great very comfortable players for me.

Isn't the B pu usually hotter than the N pu? Is this something Gibson did that most others didn't do?

I like this guy. He knows what he's talking about and says it very clearly. As he mentioned near the end, reversing the usually hotter bridge pu w/the neck - at least for me as someone me who plays in the mid-range (with enough bass and enough treble) could be something to try w/both pu's full on.

Yep. He explains it in a very understandable way. We all know that intuitively. He’s right. There are no “rules.” Go for it Geo. George does interesting stuff in his builds, striving to get as much tonal variety out of his flock.

With respect to MQ.... Yeah, me too.

Around that time, she and Susanna Hoffa were my “IT” girls. Since the Bangles were SoCal based, we saw them a lot as openers early on. I’m not ashamed of liking them. The music grew on me. Mainly because of her voice. And looks. And they were really good live. Sorta why I love Linda Ronstadt from a few years earlier.

I was thinking about this awhile back. Growing up in SoCal made me an eclectic listener. I wonder if my tastes would have developed differently had Mom agreed to let Dad move us to Cocoa Beach in ‘68.

I liked Thunderbirds since the mid 70s, both Reverse and NR. Reverse is just cool. Always thought the NRs were funky cool. I may prefer the looks of a NR. Certainly close to the Reverse.

I still prefer the classic looks of the Reverse. But I love my NRs.

Sure wish I had read that post of yours accurately. Which I didn’t see until Chucky quoted it. Then they would have been mine! I really thought you were selling them. By the time I realized my mistake once clarified, Miles snapped them up. Oh well. Snooze you lose. Gotta be quick around these parts. Like in Dodge City.
