Thunderbird Club

Strong AC/DC vibe going on there.
If I did a top10 or top dozen Aussie bands list they’d be my no 2 behind AC/DC. Ahead of a lot of more internationally known / successful bands. They do different styles, and the guitarist (Ian Moss or “Mossy”) is an excellent singer as well.

Great band imo

Having written a lot of set lists, over the past 20 years of TNH I'm scratching my head a bit with the Kiss song. Not that I don't like it, it's the one I like best
of your short set, it's that it doesn't really fit with the other songs.
yeah, thought it was three different (misc) songs....had to double take...

NP:

My favorite BOC album, and one of my favorite live albums. (Live albums are generally my jam.) I've probably said it before, but I saw them on this tour. When I got the album, I played it on repeat in my dorm room for about a week (yes, manually changing and flipping the vinyl). It can briefly get a bit tedious in a couple of spots (the middle of Seven Screaming Diz-Busters, for instance) but overall, it rips.
BOC complained this was too sanitized. There's another album from the tour (the band's bootleg?) that's a lot more raw. I don't recall details of the music that night as someone near us was burning something really potent. But sanitized or not, this is reasonably close to what I can recall, and I've been a lifelong fan.
Joe Bouchard was (I assume still is) a monster bass player.

The BOC post got me thinking. What are your top 5 (or so) concerts?

Earth Wind & Fire / Uriah Heep (Sep 1973)
Lynyrd Skynyrd / The Who (Nov 1973)
Blue Oyster Cult (Dec 1973)[1]
Fleetwood Mac / Jefferson Starship (Oct 1974)
Fleetwood Mac [w/ Buck&Nicks] (Nov 1975)
Buddy Guy (Sep 2018)

There were plenty in between 1975 and 2018 but none that impacted me like these did. That I can recall at the moment.

[1] The date seems wrong, but from all I can find online (and from who I was with and our lack of experience with potent hallucinogens at the time), this is probably right.

My thoughts too, but I’m not the BL. When I joined them, I was told they were a blues/R&B band.
I’m happy for you. For now, offer an opinion when asked. Otherwise just be prepared, have fun, and build on the experience. Knowing you pretty well, you will improve immensely after only a few months with them. You’ll get to the point where Chuck will ask you to sub for him. At that point, the world’s your oyster.

Huh. Memory is first thing to go. Thank God.

Does your CP serial number match 2019? What factory?
Yes, the SN is why I say it's a 2019. I'll check later on factory. Stupid iphone OS upgrade changed the search interface and it won't find any of the headstock pictures of that bass. The previous version was far more useful.

Hear that Chucky :bassist:

Y'all need an oyster thread.

Not just there…

I won’t eat raw oysters, or any other raw seafood for that matter.

I'm not as adventurous as some, but raw salmon with wasabi is good, the only Sushi I like.
I like a raw egg when it's combined with a whiskey sour.
Steak Tatare, like what I had in Paris was the bomb.

There is a local bar with an open mic night. They give you a short set (5 songs). Here is the play list in no particular order. Any thoughts on the best order? We won't be ready until late January or February. Practice last night has the instruments pretty solid...but still down to vocals.

BB King, The Thrill is Gone
Doors, Roadhouse Blues
Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Blue on Black
Jimi Hendrix, All Along the Watchtower
Kiss, I was Made for Lovin' You
End with Freebird. Just sayin'....

Actually I would end with the Hendrix song.

So many shows. Lots of amazing ones. And some awful ones.

1. Yes. 1975. Hollywood Bowl. Relayer Tour. It was perfection. The encore of Sweet Dreams was exquisite
2. Neil and the Horse. 1978. The Forum. Both nights. Rust Tour.
3. The Boss. 1975. Rob Gym at UCSB. BTR Tour.
4. Bowie. 1974. Universal Amphitheater. Diamond Dogs Tour.
5. The Clash. 1979 and 1980. Three shows over a few months. Santa Monica Civic. It’s all a blur. One was pre London Calling’s release. Two were after it. All I can say is if you never heard Stay Free live, you haven’t lived.
6. Silversun Pickups. 2019. 1933 Event Center in Bako.
7. Wilco. 2012. Hollywood Bowl.
8. Mavis Staples. 2018 World Records stage in Bako. An amazing night at a perfect venue.
9. Neil solo with opening act James. I think it was 1993. Orange County Fairgrounds Amphitheater. Harvest Moon Tour for Neil. Seven/Wah Tour for James. Best opening act I ever saw.
10. Greg Kihn Band. 1980. Universal Amphitheater. Glass House Rock Tour. Lots of fun under the stars (before they ruined the place with a roof. It is now long gone).

I really need to think to list in order beyond that. How to choose? Multiple more Yes, Springsteen, Bowie, Silversun Pickups, and Neil shows. Fleetwood Mac both pre and post Buckingham Nicks coming on board. The Pretenders. Al Stewart. Sun Volt. Los Lobos many times. Blondie. Genesis many times. Minutemen. Bangles. Go-Go’s. Harry Chapin. Suzanne Vega. Starship. Avett Brothers many times. Zac Brown three times (as close to country as I really care to go, although I went with my wife to Alan Jackson shows three or four times times). Hell. I even saw the Knack once. And the Baby’s. And others I’ve long forgotten.

The worst:

California Jam. 1974. Ontario Motor Speedway. It totally blew. ELP. Deep Purple. Sabbath. Eagles. Jackson Brown. Others. Couldn’t see or hear poopie.

Yes. 1980. Long Beach Arena. Drama Tour. White noise. It totally sucked. We left after less than an hour.
