Hadn't used Boomers in decades (literally) but they are mellowing out beautifully on the Greco (thank you) as it gets quite a bit of usage......may even restring that bass with Boomers when these go dead but not before the Boil the Boomers exercise......

Soaking strings in Methanol will clean them without affecting the metal. And it's not as gross!
Of course with aggressive playing, my roundwounds develop flat spots at the fret locations. I suspect yours would be the same.

I haven't seen it (or remember it), but would think so, and considering you could likely get it down a little. Prices have been going up and don't seem to changing direction anytime soon.

It’s listed for just under $10k.

Been working on my left fret hand like this it is tough to not have the use of the thumb.

Hmm, I don’t usually have my thumb pressing on the back of the neck unless I’m playing some chord (usually a simple 1st/5th) or other combination of strings simultaneously.

Great to hear you still dig them. Underrated string IMO. But like all strings, not for everyone or every application. I like them on some things. Currently have them on none. But certainly will again.

I boiled some StringJoys that are no longer made. Gave a little life back to them.

I didn't get as much junk as I expected. But they were not played constantly.
I don't notice flat spots much. I'm a user not an abuser!

just water in a small pot with the strings coiled up and trying to keep the non ball end silks above the water line....

It's been quite a while, but I seem to remember the strings went dead faster after boiling compared to cleaning with alcohol.
I capped off one end of an ABS pipe, filled it and soaked the strings overnight.

Play it thru headphones or your bass amp if possible, desktop speakers won’t do it any justice. It’s plenty deep and dark, remember it’s Fenders answer to the Gibby Mudbucker. Never one of my favorite solo sounds, but in a mix it lays a solid foundation.
