Thunderbird Club

So, like someone else here, I did a thing…

Seems like the identical instrument.

And, I now have an immaculate 2001 burst Gibson Thunderbird for sale. $1400. Currently sporting Lollar (nickel) pickups with rings, Hipshot USA (nickel) ultra lights, and Babicz (nickel) bridge. Black PG courtesy of @Engle . All the original hardware, pickguard, and pickups included. The rings are double stick taped, and no extra holes are made in this bass. This bass can be put back to 100% stock/original with no problem and the aftermarket parts are worth at least $500.

The burst finish on this one is exceptional, I'll get better pics tomorrow.
I wouldn't be too quick to sell that beauty, because the one in your link is the one I bought, and I have a tracking number for it. So, I'm a bit confused.

I had a feeling that was the case. Seems strange that the ad didn't go away after you bought it. I'll expect the seller will be giving a refund to me soon. Did you get yours from eBay? Maybe they forgot to remove the ad from reverb?
It came from a bass shop in Seattle. I'm sure it was just an oversight....sometimes known as an administrative error

I would be all over it had I not just got the ‘77. Hope is goes to someone here.

The one I thought I bought is the same one that Thumper bought, it just wasn’t removed from the Reverb site. I now am waiting for a refund. I won’t be selling my 2001 until I get my hands on my own Cherry Gibson, which probably won’t be for awhile since they don’t come up often.

I'll add your '01 to the "maybe" list. If the timing works out, maybe we can work something out down the line. Lollars and a Babicz are very tempting. And that wonderful Ebony fretboard.

I hope that happens for you. I personally don't remember a cherry heritage Thunderbird for sale, but that doesn't mean a lot these days (not remembering). What really pushed me over the edge on this one was the 8.3 lb weight. And all the 2013 Anniversary Thunderbirds were over-priced, beat up, or 9 lbs or all 3.

The original '01 pickups are a good thing just by themselves.

I snagged mine from Guitar Center online (albeit a number of years ago) and have seen a few there over the years.
I was probably having some of my Fenderbirds built and didn't pay attention. Also, I probably thought they were the natural mahogany finish due to the photos. But mainly, I didn't think the 1.5" necks would work for me because of pain caused by my '66 Jazz until I got my first VP from Kara, which I can play pain-free. Alls well that ends well....BTW, the 2014 is 12-15 miles away as I type, but probably won't get until Monday as it has one more stop to make which is about 2 miles away.

I might be looking for a bass this early summer, as well as an amp... I'm really getting along with my CP more than ever these days. A second 'Bird could happen. Something like this one...
