The Epis have the flange. But all my Gibsons are like V's.

All this activity lately is inspiring. Beautiful Cherry Reverses. Alex with a very nice Blackbird. Allie picked up a to die for Zebrawood. Chucky finally had the opportunity to replace his long lost Bicentennial. And I finally got a Bicentennial to check that want off the bucket list too.

The good news is that both Roger and I would love to get Richard's '01 should he decide to move it.

Never a dull moment around here.

Looking closely, I think Gibson actually uses ferrules without a top flange, which makes sense if pressing flush. They seem to be fluted all the way up, and theres a lot thinner margin around the threads.

I can counterdrill for the flange easily enough, thanks to the T-Bird's flat deck and back. No carved-top accomodation required.

One you may consider at what could be a fair price if he'll ship it for that. Read up on them. Maybe call Jim Bergantino. And Tom Bowlus. I have never heard one. Bergs are scarce out here on the best coast. But I’ve read good things about that amp. I believe it can do the “clean” you spoke of really well.

Thanks again to @GBassNorth for generously sending me the set of EB Cobalt rounds. I put them on the RNR to replace a set of SIT Fusion Wound Stainless. I don't play that bass much, so the strings weren't dead. I've put them aside for later use. As expected, being EB, the Cobalts were not as stiff as the SIT. I prefer stiffer strings. I don't understand old comments I've seen about the Cobalt rounds, but they feel quite smooth to me. Either I'm tainted or they had a bad run at one point. The biggest surprise was tone. Same tonal ballpark as the Power Steels (and by association, Fusion Wound). So similar that I'd be happy rocking them, though they're more than twice as expensive as Power Steels. Definitely leaving these on the RNR until they die. Thanks again, George.
