Hey I even understood what they were talking about at the beginning. I know nothing about/have zero interest in basketball, but LeBron James is a stand up bloke.
That' 65 Bird is a 'kidney' bass.
If I couldn't play a 'Bird, my next choice would be an Oversize Les Paul, they're &%$#^(@ badass, and I kinda GAS for one anyway.
I love Gibson basses.
Truth be told, I'm a closet Les Paul bass lover.
Had one in Tobacco burst the last band I was in when living in PDX.
I simply loved it T.
Why I sold it, I'll never really know.
Went back to a P or some stupid reason like that.

Hello may I have a number? I just acquired a 2013 ebony Gibson Thunderbird. It came in yesterday and I got a full setup. I like it, though it is definitely unique! I thought it would look good in my metal band however I have never played one. I put DL Hi Beams on mine. What kind of strings do you guys use?
Two hours of prep!? On the one hand, I am curious about the routine, but on the other, I'm afraid of the answer. Probably better to let imaginations run wild.

An idea I was kickin around in my head last night at 3am when I couldn't get to sleep - wouldn't it be cool to find a nice clean used Goth Bird, defret it, fill the gaps with dark wood or epoxy, stain the FB black, install a flat black pickguard and black beauty strings and put a drop tuner on it. Ya just don't ever see Fretless Gibsons or Birds out there, it might be way cool! Thoughts?
This is the first Cataldo Fiver, built in 2012. Steve and I came up with ThunderBucker EX5 pickups for it. He's sold quite a few since then to replace stock Studio V pups.
Is this black and just reflecting or some really deep blue? If the latter what'sthe colour and what's the price range for your basses?
Size is totally fine. A brass cover for the bridge pupslot would go along nicely. Is this a Goth body or the Black's customized?

There are other basses that I'd like to have if money were no issue, notably an RD, Studio 5 String, IV, and a nice old EB of some sort - I love Gibson basses.
Didn't you also own a Ric before? IIRC you posted that once. I think they're only non Gibson who are unique in a positive way. Most other stuff doesn't distinguish itself enough.
I think most of the regulars followed your thread. Congratulations and really happy for you.
Took the Gibson out today. Had the settings from the Whitebird on my GK. The Gibson is even boomier. Was only Guit and me, so low volume. Pre and Master at 9 o'clock shook the foundations off of our concrete rehearsal space.
Need to install another jack into my Blackbird, any suggestions?

Welcome Mantis! Beautiful Bird. After all you've been through to acquire your ebony, I'm thinking our queen might waive you having to undergo the initiation ritual...but I'm certainly in no position to speak for her.
As for strings, I just use EB Hybrid Slinkys, 45-105, and change them every couple of months. They work for me, are inexpensive and give me the tone I like. Everyone seems to have their own preference.
Gaolee got one. IIRC he modded an Epi Pro into a FL version.
