How do you fix this problem on a three point bridge where the winding by the ball end is on the saddle? The E and A string are still sharp so I have to move them even closer to the ball end and they already sound a lot deader than the D and G string when they are new.

Also, if my A string is a little too high for my liking relative to the other strings, my only options are to either file the saddle or replace the bridge right?View attachment 1152371

You could thread a small spacer onto the string to sit between the ball end and the bridge.

Hello may I have a number? I just acquired a 2013 ebony Gibson Thunderbird. It came in yesterday and I got a full setup. I like it, though it is definitely unique! I thought it would look good in my metal band however I have never played one. I put DL Hi Beams on mine. What kind of strings do you guys use?

I use DR's and Ken Smith Rockmasters on my 'Birds, lovely Big Angry Piano tone with them.

Beauty = pain, the tape is to hold my eyebrows in a nice arc like women's (old drag queen trick), that and getting them waxed once a month....

Shaving, bathing followed by more shaving, rubbing alcohol, surgical tape, makeup, lots of makeup - think clown amounts of makeup, followed by wigs, and women's clothing.......
I'm not complaining, it's a part of me and is no doubt why it "works", people can see it's no phoney thing.

You could thread a small spacer onto the string to sit between the ball end and the bridge.

This works like a charm, I've done it before. Go to a hardware store and get a 1/4" long aluminum spacer (or whatever length you need) and thread the string through.

It's all about what you let people see, yours is exactly the response that I want to create - My image and a Thunderbird, it should always be that way.

If I couldn't play a 'Bird, my next choice would be an Oversize Les Paul, they're &%$#^(@ badass, and I kinda GAS for one anyway.
There are other basses that I'd like to have if money were no issue, notably an RD, Studio 5 String, IV, and a nice old EB of some sort - I love Gibson basses.

There's 1 or 2 MINT early 60's EB-3's on Reverb that I'm really GASSING over

Speaking of strings (I know I'm a bit late to the party but I was busy) I ordered some strings the other day, Black label Sadowsky nickels for the white bird (heard good things from a friend) La Bella flats for my Jazz. I can't wait to get them and play them.

That color is a deep blue green transparent stain. I can do a straight deep blue trans as well as trans cherry.

Price for a trans stain fiver with dot neck is 2295 including USA shipping and case. To the EU and Asia add $100. Blocks, add $200.

@ProgressiveDoom thanks for the vote of confidence! In light of my generally cadenza-like delivery of the goods, as it were.

I think it looks great. If you take some off, it'd only be 1/8th inch all round I guess.
I'd leave it.

I meant to ask, was your new bass owned by a gentleman from Wenatchee? Pretty sure I've seen it before. I can tell you the PG was done by a guy that sells on ebay, at one point he was doing stainless truss rod covers that said Gibson on them - That didn't last long (but I did manage to get a couple) ! I have both on a Nikki Sixx Mk.II Thunderbird, chrome plated.

At that price I think you cured my gas for a early 70's P-bass... I mean... not a P-bass...
No promises but same as @Off-Beat if work goes well the next few months and I can balance work and school well, you'll probably be hearing from me within the a year.

Look up "Gibson bass mod bar" in eBay, it should come up. I'm gonna try to use Fender bass saddles, tap bigger holesthrough the intonation screw hole, then slide that to the bottom of the string to see if that works
