Thanks!! It is gun metal grey. I was going for the 7ender Jazz Special vibe on this but with a bit more flair.
I use Dunlop Stralplocks on all of my TBirds. I use the "dual design" or whatever they call them. They are installed on the heel of all of them but never dig into my fat body.
Use the ones with a flat plastic ring, no problem
Which strings are you referring to? I'm going to have to try that wood beads trick, surely the fat windings on my sit power steels especially the 115, are behind my E (C) string saddle having to be all the way back to intonate. Not sure the bead would be thick enough for how much winding is past the saddle though. My dean markley nickelsteels are not much better.
I use one on the back but not at the heel. And that happened mainly because the leather strap I wanted to use had a loose hole and I would use both of them, folding the strap back normally. Well I needed ALL of the length of the strap this time, so the lock was necessary. I didn't want to deal with drilling a hole in the neck plate, and my goth came pre modified with the neck bolt button (non factory, it is an older one)
I might get a rubber washer for the heel end someday.
I just ordered some Dunlops. The Schallers poke out a bit but the Dunlops look like they would work better for the heel.

It is a wash, while the pull to unlock mechanism of the schaller points out more, the lock itself sits closer to the bass, since it cradles the button, rather than stacking on top of it like the Dunlop. The schaller design is more reliable as far as the lock mechanism, but the damn things can unthread and get lost on a stage, since it is just a hex nut and washer compared to Dunlop's e clip system. I happened to have a pair of Dunlops I pulled from a bass before I sold it. Normally I prefer schaller. They came stock on my 98 and 2000 american standards, and I installed them on my geddy Lee, OLP and one of my guitars. My 98 Warwick has the internal Dunlop's so I am stuck with those on there, and my y2k wicks have really nice oversized strap buttons. I have been too broke to prioritize buying straplocks for my recent acquisitions of USA Peaveys, but will probably go with the fender schaller clones, since they are compatible with my others, and are a little cheaper. Though I did notice that the chrome Dunlops are pretty cheap now.

All neck bolts are the same effective length and diameter. I grind the head of the one going through the anchor and slightly increase the diameter of the hole in the anchor to accomodate it.
This is not my first rodeo, as they say.
Can't find black screws that fit the Birds/locks. The dunlop screws are too long the bird's heads too wide. Also can't mount them to my straps, as they are too thick.

I was able to get one of the truss rod covers and pickguards as well. Used them om my Goth rebuild project. The guy also offered a BlackBird version with the iron cross cut out. Kind of wish I had one of those on my BlackBird.

But seriously... Does that guy also make secondary mirrors for telescopes? Nice flat reflective surface there (though I highly doubt it is 1/10 wave or even diffraction limited

Interesting. What strings did you end up switching to? Still trying to figure out how to get more volume out of my A string
Too use Dunlop straplocks. I use them on everything; I see it as cheap insurance against a drop.
I switched from Rotosound 66's to GHS Boomers. I have also found the some brands that have a binding like my set of D'Adario NYXL have a shorter length of binding that doesnt extend as far as the saddles so there is another option.
I don't know. I have never used regular XLs. I tried NYXLs and loved the sound enough to stop searching for other options.
