LaBella Black Nylons are magic with those pickups. Infelds are great. SIT Power Wounds (NPS) would be a great match as well.

You’re going to get a lot of answers to this question. I have 9 Thunderbirds, all but two are Gibson. The others are a Greco and an Epiphone VP. The Epiphone has the TI PowerBass strings and those strings make that inexpensive bass sound as good as any of them. Other Thunderbirds have GHS Boomers, Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats, SIT Rock Brights (110-50) Ken Smith Metal Maters (110-50 for Eb), Ken Smith Bass Burners (115-50 for D Standard). This variety of strings is working well on each bass, in the various tunings, and all serve a slightly different purpose.

I will say, when I put some GHS Boomers (105-45) on one, I was disappointed at first, they felt too stiff and seems to lack some lows, but after a few practices they now sound really good.

I should also note that none of my Thunderbirds still have the stock TB+ pickups. All of them have some sort of aftermarket vintage inspired boutique pickup sets.

The TI’s that you have on yours are a favorite string of mine and I have a set on one of my P-Basses that have a “double P” pickups configuration and those strings make/ that bass one of my very best sounding basses. I’m planning on trying the TI super alloys on one of my ‘birds soon. Hopefully when I finally land a cherry finish one.

Cases are becoming a nuisance for me too. I’m out of room at the main house where there are about a dozen. I have four at the mountain place. I’ll have to jettison a few when I move up full time. I think it’s important to keep the Gibson cases. But I can probably off some of the more beat up Epi cases.

Yeah, I have A LOT of OHSC’s. Also a lot of gig bags which is really all I use, for storing as well as going to practices and gigs.

If I only had an attic…. Or even a basement or decent crawl space. Having a slab foundation and flat roof leaves little room for storage. I have an auxiliary “shed” but it can get damp in the winter due to condensation, and it’s already pretty full of “stuff” I should just get rid of.

I love Chargers, but only ‘68-‘70, with ‘69 being my absolute favorite. I think the ‘66-‘67’s are pretty ugly, but he did a good job with this one, but the price is ridiculous. I do t even think you could get that price for a ‘69 R/T unless it was bone stock original, and maybe only then if it were a Daytona…

I have a sub-basement at the mountain where I store some empty bass boxes wrapped in larger garbage bags.I’m hesitant to store cases in it. It is also a handy place to store a few bottles of wine.

My brother’s first car was a ‘67 with the 383. It was a really nice car.
