A VP headstock is half again larger, needlessly. I like big headstocks, then there's too big.

Here’s a few pics of my Lull Tbird 5, I’m really enjoying this bass ! Sounds great cranked up in hard rock, country, very versatile bass!

Classically beautiful, Mike really knew what he was doing, I love my Lull, moreso because I got to know him a little as he built it, I would visit the shop to see it. He was so nice, so genuine.

Very nice, just like my new (to me) 2014. I put a chrome 3-point on mine, probably an AllParts. All my others have Babicz bridges, and while I wanted to keep my 2014 Cherry looking as authentic as possible, I’m not sure I’ll keep the 3-point on it. I found a good deal on a chrome Babicz, so I snatched it.

Reason I did that? I have an Ebony ‘99 with Babicz and 45-105 GHS Boomers on it, and my Cherry ‘14 has the 3-point and the same strings and tuning, etc. The first thing I noticed, just by acoustically comparing the two, is the D/G strings just don’t seem to carry the same weight(?), heft(?), resonance(?), depth(?) on the one with the 3-point as they do on the one with the Babicz. It’s kinda the ongoing battle I have with many of my older Fenders, where the D/G strings just don’t quite push like the E/A…

Maybe the strings need to break in a little? We’ll see. I’ll definitely leave the 3-point on for awhile. I would definitely prefer to leave the 3-point on, but not at the expense of getting the best tone possible out of it. Worst case I can re-sell the Babicz.

I have a set of Boomers to try with my Carvin. I love what I'm getting from the Dunlop Standard series nickels (black box), and I understand the Boomers are in the same tonal range. Curious which I'll like better. Maybe I'll do that tonight since it's easy enough to swap strings back and forth on its Hipshot A bridge. I'd be curious to see what you think of the black box Dunlop nickels on the same bass you use Boomers with. If I like them equally, the Dunlops are a lot cheaper.

If someone has a VP, a Bi-centennial, and an original 63-65 (did they go to ‘65?) I would love to know which is the overall largest, and how much bigger the VP he is over the others.

I've been having a gas towards that Nordstrang Cat ever since I found out that it is it's forefather Goya Panther what Abraham Laboriel is ripping on The New Gary Burton Quartet album from 1973 (his first session in US) and also on several songs on Andy Pratt's second album from that same year. Great tone.
Nice color too. I do like the black 'bird also.

If someone has a VP, a Bi-centennial, and an original 63-65 (did they go to ‘65?) I would love to know which is the overall largest, and how much bigger the VP he is over the others.

I do, and the VP is noticeably (and as V said, needlessly) larger. If I get time to dig all three out I will do so later.

I had possession of an original Goya Panther for about a month decades ago. Quirky but had “something “ going on aside from the looks.

Got this Acinonyx in trade.
Awesome little bass, Cary addressed the headstock issue of the original, and these pickups really bring it.

Light, thin fast neck easy player with a good setup, intuitive push button tone and pickup button control.

They’ve been discontinued: get one soon.

1964

1976 I think this and the '64 are the same length overall, but the '76 has a different shape to the upper bout, I don't like it quite as much as the original.

2024 VP

Epi's are a different shape from true Gibson Birds, at a glance yes, they look the same, but if you really look, there are differences.

Came out pretty good. The stained walnut almost looks like wenge with all those open pores.

Such a classy look! The real surprise on these Lull 5ers is how little they weigh for a 35” five string bass.

A gig tomorrow. Hard time deciding if I should take the non-reverse or the Tele...music is sort of like what Agents woukld play (@Mvf probably will get what I mean). Most likely I'll take both and as the Tele has T-Bird pickups it's a win-win anyway.

And if somebody is listening to Radio YLE 1 in Finland at 7:02 PM onwards next Sunday (I guess the only candidate is the gentleman mentioned above but who knows?) they'll be playing one of my tracks. It's a jazz program and the track they chose is one of the more trippy ones (still not indulging in anything in case my mother is reading this...):
