Getting ready for the next build. Flame maple top on a semi hollow reverse with a walnut back…

Entertaining different finish options right now. Looking for something to showcase the flame front and walnut back (will most likely just clear coat the back). Might even do a blonde flame maple binding to really make it unique. Here’s some interesting top finish color schemes I’m considering…

Open to any finish ideas from the clan here that might look great on the flamed top.

tough one, this looks pretty cool but it could be (some) body bias....

A gig tomorrow. Hard time deciding if I should take the non-reverse or the Tele...music is sort of like what Agents woukld play (@Mvf probably will get what I mean). Most likely I'll take both and as the Tele has T-Bird pickups it's a win-win anyway.

And if somebody is listening to Radio YLE 1 in Finland at 7:02 PM onwards next Sunday (I guess the only candidate is the gentleman mentioned above but who knows?) they'll be playing one of my tracks. It's a jazz program and the track they chose is one of the more trippy ones (still not indulging in anything in case my mother is reading this...):

Yes, I know the band Agents very well, used to play a lot of Agents music in one of my bands in the past.

I too have a gig on Saturday, my first gig with a covers/party band I joined just a couple of weeks ago. This will be my third active band. Not to forget the acoustic troubadour duo, where I play guitar. So 4 musical projects going on, keeps my retirement days busy

I’ll make mental note about the YLE 1 program. Our bedroom radio kicks on at 6:00, but we have it normally tuned to YLE Vega… I’ll have remember to change that for Sunday.

Always loved the blue finishes on PRS guitars. Especially the blue/green and the whale blue ones (blue/cream)

It also might look cool in a dark colour, so you can see the flamed maple but it doesn't pop as much. Might look quite classy in a matt finish.

I had to decline. We had an emergency come up. Everyone is ok. But we had to pay out a ton of dough. So no new PB bass for me.

I hope things get sorted out and you can recover financially in a reasonable time.

Yes.

You have some in the warmer colors, so I really like the bottom left as being different from what I recall you have. But the Red, Blue (if brighter or more G&L like), and both Purples stand out. I love a good Green trans finish, just not that one as it seems subdued or less vibrant. But can't go wrong with any of those.

Well, carp! I'm glad everyone is ok, but sad there was an emergency.

I know it would have been easier, and a little cheaper to source a body from Warmoth, but, even though I’m gonna butcher a genuine, era specific body, it doesn’t matter since I’ll be adding the bridge P rout. Also, the finish is already genuinely aged and will match the neck as far as player wear and age. I’m really curious how much weight I can remove without any evidence of anything being done once the pickguard is on. In addition to everything I can remove from under the guard, there will also be the rout for the bridge P and a battery box on the back. Minor I know but every little ounce will help with this one. Given I already had most of the other parts, I’ll be $1600 in the neck and body to make a complete bass. Heck if I ever sell it I may be able to get at least that back.

I think the additional pickup and battery will weigh the same or more than the ash they displace
Can you do an oversized battery box on the back?
