Thunderbird Club

I love it. I'm excited to get it in my hands and begin bonding with it. As for the finish cracking on the neck, I'm moderately concerned. I spoke with two techs over there, and they both stated that it was all finish, no structural. But it looks bad. MJT is local to me, and they could probably get it back and make the fix invisible, but I suppose I will cross that bridge when I have an extra arm and leg 😂. Attached is the photo of the HORRIBLE spot on the bass, for anyone who wants to:
1. Call me an idiot for buying it.
2. Tell me "everything is going to be ok."
3. Offer advice on a potential fix.

If it doesn’t interfere with playing, and over time it wears in, it will just be the beginning of the “aging” of the instrument. While I like a pretty instrument, I have no qualms about bumps, scratches, wear marks/patterns, etc. It’s always “the first one is the worst one”. But they are meant to be used! I do get that it’s an “anniversary” model, so I suppose it’s would be worth getting it back to perfect and caring for it, hoping to never bump or scratch it again.

…66 Gibson NR vs. Bach „not Joe West‘s Bass“…seller told me the refin was a Pelham blue nitro satin finish by www.gitarrenbastler.de … Pickups by Harry Häusel…another semi-retired pickup maker… sounds very close to the original… was out on rehearsal last Thunderbird Thursday….seems to be a keeper….
I guess Pelham Blue is now any blue you like, but those are beauties!

It will be interesting to find out what MJT says about repairing that. Normally for repairs in lacquer, you can airbrush colour to blend into the existing, then clear over it and the new lacquer will melt into the old.

I personally prefer tung oil finish on a neck, so I would look at it as a reason to strip the back of the neck:)

A lot better.
You might like this though she is a magistrate in the show. Sigrid Thornton (Australia’s sweetheart, starred in the Man from Snowy River movies). This show was huge here even though it was on the national broadcaster, the ABC. The title became a piece of general speech that people adopted. Now people talk about their Seachange, or Treechange, when they leave the rat race in the city.

Choice 2. Once you bond with it, that is one of those little things that tell your fingers it it yours and nobody else's.

Just looked it up. Good ol’ Clavdivs!

(Derek Jacobi played Emperor Claudius in the Claudius mini series years ago. The title was written with v’s instead of u’s)
