Thunderbird Club

I have this around 8-9 o’clock, just to add a lil sumthin’ but in the mix with the band, this may go up. I want the subs but not a strong “octaver effect”, I have a pedal for that.

I’m no fan of the Ampeg 410HLF, which is (I think) what the 410 Heritage is. On the other have, I am a big fan of the SVT212AV, I have two of them, but they stay in my rehearsal spaces with my V4B-AB and V4B re-issue. The idea behind my venture into the Ashdown rig was to slightly size up my “live rig” from the Orange TB500, 2x112 cabs. Those 112 cabs are rear ported. The new rig won’t 100% fit in the trunk of my car, one cab has to be in the back seat, where the full Orange rig, two Thunderbirds and accessories all fit in my trunk before.

Heck I squeeze everything into my wife’s Hyundai Kona.
When I drag the 215 out I’ve got a 2006 Magnum SRT8

I suspect the Sub may add something to what is more distant from the cab. More felt or perceived than actually heard. Maybe? Just going on the fact that everything seems to sound bigger the farther away from the cab one gets. On my ABM I have to get near noon before I start noticing it. Much depends on the pre setting and EQ.

I agree. I don't like the regular HLF 410 either. Or any Ampeg 410 I tried for that matter. The Heritage is a different animal. Worth the extra $100.

I have no problem fitting any combination of gear in vehicles available to me, but having a full rig (albeit compact) and basses all in the trunk of my 2011 Charger, all out of sight, was nice. I could get to a venue and park, go in and check the situation, and not worry that someone could see what I have. And not have to stress about getting everything inside right away, and then have to babysit it while waiting for our turn.

Not big, but we are loud, heavy, tuned down to drop C, and both of my guitar players have beefy tones. I have no doubly about the power (watts) I have being more than enough, but sealed cabs, in my experience, tend to sound tight and cold. So far, that’s what I’m feeling with these compact Ashdown neo ones. I’m sure I’ll find a fantastic tone with these cabs and this head, but it’s will take a little time. To be fair, I was really timid with the volume on Saturday night, since there was a direct plugged in and I didn’t want to foul up the mix through the mains. I’ll get a better idea when we play with no amps in the PA (like Winters).

OTOH, my full size Orange 115 and 210 cabs with the big ports front ports that run up the side, are so boomy that I pull a lot of the bass out of the AD200 to keep it under control.

Again, the Ampeg SVT212AV shines here because its front ported and still not boomy. I just love that cab.

Those 212s are great cabs. Not as big sounding as my 410, but still a great cab. And it's not heavy! Though it's been about 5 yrs since I moved it. It may be heavy now!

If I need to downsize my 410, I may consider another 212. Not sure... Would seriously consider Ashdown, likely not Neos. One thing I like about the 410 is the head is up enough to see and adjust easily. But I leave it at church, if I had to haul it in/out very often I would find something else for that.

I managed a Biodynamic farm for a few years. It was a trip. Thankful we didn't have a rabbit problem. But there are a lot of somewhat mystical and ritualistic procedures in Biodynamic farming. Biodynamic certification is another few steps beyond organic certification. It basically treats the whole farm as one living organism. Not just the crops and fields. Never thought I'd see Rudolf Steiner mentioned in the Thunderbird thread. I can tell you though that when we went from organic to Biodynamic The whole place went Boom! Everything grew so much better.
Americans tend to focus more on specific issues than systems. This is as true of ecosystems as economic or traffic systems. It *always* leads to suboptimal solutions and complications.

In Aus, we imported a virus and they contracted Myxomatosis and mostly died off. Of course the ones that lived bred a resistant rabbit population. Imported another virus a couple of decades ago when they again grew to plague proportion

The English imported rabbits, foxes etc to make Australia more like England and for hunts etc. Fools. They had no natural predators here and did a lot of damage.
Not as stupid as importing cane toads though…. :banghead:
Or as importing kudzu into the southeastern states. Although if we could cross kudzu with Thunderbirds, we'd all have more birds than we could play!

I don't know about genocide, but species-cide would be good.
In nethack (ancient computer dnd-style game), a scroll of genocide lets you pick a character type (species) to remove from the dungeon for the duration of the game. A blessed scroll lets you remove the genus. So a regular scroll of genocide might remove, say, fire ants, while a blessed scroll would let you remove all ants. A cursed scroll actually summons several of the monsters you are trying to get rid of. Under normal circumstances, you won't know what type of scroll it is until you read it, and you won't know if it's cursed until you read it. So there's that. But hey, 4-6 extra bunnies is way better than 4-6 additional pissed off trolls.
