We spent the past few days on the coast. One of our granddaughters wanted to go for her 17th birthday so we went with her, her parents, siblings, bff, a cousin, & uncle. Beach, fishing, food, teen activities, and general hanging out. Excellent 4 days.
No bass and no bass, but I caught other fish — trout, redfish, catfish, ??? — all too small to keep. My wife caught the biggest one of the group. First time I have enjoyed fishing [1] but even there, I’d have been just as happy to have slept later and just gone boating.

[1] unless catching lots of crab with no way to keep them and throwing them back like Frisbees (they go whZZZZZzzzzzz-SPLASH off a high bridge) counts.

Played a fantastic show today. For some stupid reason, the input jack on this unupholstered Kustom cab is at the very bottom. The speaker cable I had was a little too short (only ever used this amp with my SWR 410), so I had to jam a stool between the cab and piano in the corner there. The GK Legacy 800 sounded incredible. Trim knob (input gain) dimed, per Bob Gallien's suggestion, EQ all around noon, master to taste, instant great tone. Ignore the knob settings in the photo. It had just come out of the bag.

I have several rounds like that up at the mountain. Huh. Giving me an idea. But thinking about it, the suckers are pretty heavy. Cool look in the right place though.

Thinking about playing yesterday. We were a bit sloppy. It happens. The bass amp was some kind of Ampeg combo with an extension cabinet. I didn't have any opportunity to dial it in. Plug in and play. It didn't sound good at all. The Flamingo sounded weak. Those of you who have played it now that it has Thunderbuckers know it isn't weak. At least not through an Acoustic stack. The Ampeg strangled the low frequencies and made the sound wash out to tan. The upright sounded better, but not great. So much for the Ampeg flavor, although to be fair, I don't know what Ampeg it was.

That’s weird. The Ampeg sound I’m used to has lots of lows.

I grew up on his songs. My dad had all his albums and played them all the time. “I Hold Your Hand In Mine” was one of my favorites.
I remember sitting at a cocktail bar in my 30’s and in the background I could hear the piano player going thru an instrumental medley of his songs, I was probably the only one in the room that recognized what he was playing. I gave him a $20 bill with Irish Balled written on it as a request, he smiled and played it. We may have been the only two people in the room that knew any of the words to the macabre songs he was playing.
I believe he was a mathematics professor in his day job, which might explain this song…

Typically plenty of lows, but Ampeg cabs can be anywhere from too tight and funky mids to boomy (like 410HLF which is the best example of that).

For me the SVT212AV is a stellar cabinet, it just seems to sound good with everything.

The Orange OBC115 is another surprisingly good sounding cab, which I’m told is basically an EV TL606 (I think) laying on its side. Mine has the Kappa 15a. Good strong lows and clear mid and highs. The new ones use a Celestion.

My new GK 212 Neo is going to be a bit of a beast, and between it and the Ashdown, I’m going to have to learn to tune to the room quickly.

I thought you had parametric EQ already? Or, was that in an amp that you sold?
