I like Morro Bay myself, rarely gets hot there, some sort of vortex in that area, or what i call it anyway.

Obviously you've never been to Santa Ana. Away from the coast in SoCal (east of the 405) it gets HOT. At least the nights cool off because of the low humidity...except when the Santa Ana winds blow out of the desert.

Morro Bay, that's the ticket. Or Alameda Island just off the coast of Oakland. Used to be a beautiful little working class Navy town. Lived there in the late 90s after the base shut and before the gentrifying commenced in earnest.

Really not a big fan of this bird interpretation. Talking about ESP/LTD and FSOs/Aerodynes. This caught my eye and I thought the LTD would be in the 400-700€ ballpark. Well..

Your drummer sure has a great kit. The gong is a nice touch, too. If the song calls for a gong, there's not much else that will do the job.

That's really great!

Something unique like a gong sure does make a difference. I use a brake drum for the same reason. It has a different sound from a gong, but it wakes up the audience and it's unique. Seeing your brother's gong in that photo made my day.

I used to have a signature toy on my kit back in the early '90s. It's a kinda long story, but I was in a position to "liberate" a fire alarm bell from a hospital hallway. That thing was ridiculous! it was like, 8-10" around, loudernhell, and fit perfectly on a cymbal stand! (... and no... I would never do anything like that today)

Yes. Please all converge in Santa Ana next Saturday. I will use the goth. Maybe convert a few rumble naysayers and curious.

And laws or not, Santa Ana will not abide to under 85 and always with a cool breeze. But it does cool down at night.

I'm barely surviving the current heat wave because I am south/east of the 405, but being encased in fiberglass, even painted white, does warm it up a bit.

'tis true. My only journey to left coast, started and ended in LAX. I was going off what a friend of mine, who claimed to have spent time there, had told me. As reverend Hendrix said, "You can't believe everything you see and hear... can yooooouuuuu".

Gotta say... this "Morro Bay" you speak of... this sounds nice. Musta been why Don Rich was headed there on that fateful day...

We're in the 80s°F right now. July usually becomes a tad hotter. I love it. I hate cold weather and everything below 70°F is winter for me.

No fecking way. In March '68 (coincidentally during the Tet Offensive} I declined Uncle Sam's 'invitation' to go kill people fighting for their freedom and haven't seen a war since worth fighting. My dad on the OTOH was drafted in July '41 and served in England, N.Africa, Italy, France, and Germany. Almost 40 months overseas getting back to the US in Sept '45. He told me and my brother, "I'LL drive you to Canada if it comes to that."

Luckily it didn't. Like the rest of the musicians in Gainesville, Florida, I was happy to declare myself an 'active homosexual' at my induction physical. Thirty five guys got on the bus to be inducted in Jacksonville that morning. I was the only one who completed the round trip in the afternoon.
