We're in the 80s°F right now. July usually becomes a tad hotter. I love it. I hate cold weather and everything below 70°F is winter for me.

Southern Ontario has been high 70's to mid 80's… PLUS humidity the past week. The weekend was terrible.

I was in Toronto last week for a conference. It was definitely humid. The breeze made it tolerable. Nice city, lousy climate.

Obviously you've never been to Santa Ana. Away from the coast in SoCal (east of the 405) it gets HOT. At least the nights cool off because of the low humidity...except when the Santa Ana winds blow out of the desert.

Morro Bay, that's the ticket. Or Alameda Island just off the coast of Oakland. Used to be a beautiful little working class Navy town. Lived there in the late 90s after the base shut and before the gentrifying commenced in earnest.

Actually if you're looking for good daytime summer weather in SoCal north of the LA madhouse and south of San Fran look no further than 1/2 mile inland anywhere from Santa Monica on up to Half Moon Bay. Morro Bay is great as is Malibu, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and so on right up the coast. Anything north of SF is a whole different world, much cooler, actual clouds, and even some rain. Up in that area I love Bodega Bay, it's almost a northern version of Morro Bay which is just a smaller more scenic version of San Diego's Mission Bay and My old stomping grounds in Montery Bay (Santa Cruz).

During the summer temps in the Malibu to Half Moon Bay areas will be between 75 and 85 at the peak of the day with a cool 65 degree breeze. Go inland just a couple of miles and the temps jump up by 10 degrees, and down near LA go another 20 miles inland and you could easily be in 100+ degree weather with a stifling hot dry wind in your face.

Maaaan... that warhorse you're banging' on, has to be the coolest NR I've seen! You can just feel the mojo pouring out of it!

I bought this off ebay it had no Gibson parts and a failed replaced headstock. The bass was originally a Thunderbird II but someone hacked a Bill Lawrence humbucker into the bridge position. I redid the headstock repair, pulled the BL pickup and put a plate over the chiseled gouge. A good bass friend sold me a original pickup and I bought original parts of ebay and installed my Badbird Bridge. The bass is my main stage bass, takes the heat off my first NR bought in '77 and others in my collection. It's a warhorse for sure!

Was in North Hollywood from '85-'93, then again from 97-'01.
Hated it, But i'll take that stretch from Malibu on up to Half Moon Bay anytime.

It's a good thing i've got a close friend who lives in Morro Bay.
He's my way out of NYC when the time comes.

Very different worlds AND very different climates.
It could easily be 100+ in Glendale/Eagle Rock at the same time that it's in the low 70's in Venice (what is that, about 30 miles away as the crow flies). But the even bigger difference is in the cultures of the two areas. Venice is the SoCal equivalent to Haight/Ashbury in San Fran, what has been seen cannot be unseen applies there. Whereas, Eagle Rock is more like Bakersfield (well not quite that redneck, but close), much higher pickup truck per household ratio than Venice for sure.
And now you're in Florida with lovely beaches and bath water warm oceans that you can wade out 200+ yards in an not have to tread water. We won't focus on the humidity, bugs and gators - it ruins the picture.

We'll use one until the drummer and rehearsal space issues are addressed... but I prefer that my drummer have feel. I wouldn't consider using a drum machine, any sooner than I would consider using a bass machine.

At least you can program a drum machine, sometimes I sure wish I could program my drummer.

I left the added volume knob, bit of a joke, the first Explorer Bass had three knobs, one volume was just filling a hole , now when sound guys ask me to turn down I fiddle with the nonfunctional volume, gets a thumbs up every time.

Actually it was the hills of Mt.Washington above the SAnta Fe switching yards and L.A. river. Very old Mexican american neigborhood and the Foix French Bakery. Chickens and goats, etc. Eagle Rock was over the hill. Venice was the Oakwood neighborhood, gangland by the sea in the midst of gentrification. Santa Monica was north of Wilshire with excellent public schools funded by Hollywood directors and actors.

I now live in a FL county with one of the highest pct of retired military and GOP voters (95%) in the country. You can't swing a cat without hitting a church. It's cheap and no one cares what I do or build on my own property. Luckily Gainesville is a 30 mile drive to all the culture I need and great medical care.
