three 45s here on Sat.....

I appreciate the positive feedback on my previous post- but I admit I was a bit surprised when I awoke that night-

So dad passed away last May after a nearly three year bout with dementia and I relocated mom close to me and now we all reside in a high rise in the Houston/Clear lake area in Texas.

So- I’m completely surrounded in my new abode- some will recognize the phantom Thunderbird- I believe the unwritten message was - “Resistance is futile!” (Ref “Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe’).

Very sorry to hear about your Dad. I hope things are getting for everyone.

I still love the burgundy Jazz. What a color.

I have a K&K Bassmax on the Englehardt and a David Gage realist on the Corelli 1/2 size.
You'll may need a preamp - depends on the input impedance on the amp. Also I highly recommend a High Pass Filter. Fdeck (active on Talkbass) makes units that do both.
If you haven't discovered Gollihur music, check it out.
I'm told over at the DB HQ that my Hartke Kickback 12 is 1MegOhm at the input. Also that my SansAmp BDDI is a good preamp to use along with, and I have a Broughton adjustable hpf. I just need a pickup I guess, gonna see about a Vic's... but I'll look at the Gollihur link, thanks mang.

If anyone needs to escape the authorities.

Wow!
Pros: This'd be great for me(lotta experience reading charts and can fake my ass off; was in a shipboard USN band); you're paid outside the US territorial waters=no income tax.
Cons: I'm 80 y/o-and look at least 60ish; I don't have-or wanna get-a passport; I have responsibilities(house w/bills, family, cat)that no one else is gonna take care of; shipboard gigs don't pay much.
Oh, well. Back to the drawing board.

Maybe $2,000/month and you have to be a studio musician. Something isn’t quite right.

The pay is free and clear(no taxes, yer fed onboard). You can bank all of it-if yer careful. I've known a few guys that did cruise ship gigs. It's a younger, unattached man's game.

But don’t you mean:

I have spoken to players on cruises I’ve been on. They said it’s something they were doing for a change, certainly not a career. One guy did something else on the ship; he helped with excursion organizing in the mornings. They generally eat well, had to share a cramped cabin, and only very occasionally got to leave the ship. Not something I’d be into, but I suppose for someone young with no other commitments, it might be a good way to play all the time and become a better musician. And maybe meet girls…

I appreciate your and other members' kind condolences- dad was 88 and had a good life and I consider myself fortunate to have been with him and mom for the last six weeks of his life. His passing was pretty sudden when it happened without prolonged suffering and we feel fortunate considering the circumstances-

Regarding 7 of 9, she's much more comely than the Vogons - and their phrase was actually "Resistance is useless"

Thank you for the post!

That's my experience. Not an easy life as anyone that isn't a headliner is working more than one job with very long hours and maybe one day off ship per month.

Meet girls with exotic accents who are part of the ship's crew or girls who are stuck on the cruise with their grandparents. The ones with their grandparents are probably not the best option, for several reasons. Getting tangled up with other members of the crew has complications as well.

Hey, if you're young, it's the perfect opportunity to have a lot of fun and have stuff blow up in your face, I know. 😺
