Thunderbird Club

All this talk of maple is making me hungry.

On another positive note:
Sold off some cabs, and the Trace Elliott head yesterday.
Came out with some cash, and an Ampeg Venture series VB-212 (floor demo, Tolex damage on bottom edge no other issues)

Really impressive for a 40lb cab .
500 W, 101dB sensitivity, and 124DB max output, Frequency range (-3 dB): 39 - 17,400 Hz

Good fit with My Mesa TT-800 (400 W @8 ohms)

50th Anniversary SVT on top of a LabSeries 215: with Kappalite looms behind.
Being an 8ohm cab, I cannot use it with its YAmpeg sibling. Can’t rewire it to 2/4 ohms as it employs 2x16 ohm LaVoce drivers
IMG_4715.jpeg

The VB weighs less than the PJB C8 (55lbs)

And FAR less than the Ampeg BXT 115hl4
(100 lbs)

Although now when the SVT goes out on the Town I can’t use the BXT for a cart :-(

The Ebony VP is now sporting gold pickup trim rings.

beautiful basses G, did you add the bucker to that Stang or was it already configured like that when you acquired? what pup? Bet that thing sounds awesome..
Bought it new about 15 years ago, bone stock with mustang split coils, played the heck out of it while my rotator cuff was messed up, nice and light and short reach. Then I parked it about 5 years ago and pretty much forgot about it. Last year I decided to add a short scale Tbird to the line up but couldn’t find any for sale (pretty rare), so I said the heck with it and dropped a ChinaBucker bridge pup in place of the stock split coil. Sounds and plays wonderful and looks darn good to boot. If I were a gigging bassist on a tight stage it would be my axe of choice.

Did someone here recently say they have decided that they are definitely getting a bicentennial?

Seems like a good one right here:

That was me. And it’s in the color I was looking for. Was being the operative word. I bought a black 1979 (pretty rare, one of 7 made that year) a few days ago for significantly less money. We’ll see if it’s a keeper, if not I might return it and go for this one if it’s still available. Should know in a couple of days.

If I were doing a lot better money-wise, this would be the Bi-cen I would like, nice genuine wear, black, mostly original, and what seems like a fair price. But these days it’s all I can do to not start selling off what I have…

This one gets to leave the house and go to a show on Saturday, we're on the big stage at 7 Cedars casino in beautiful Sequim, WA. 3 one hour sets, not sure what's going along as a second just yet, I want to use the '64 most of the night but may switch to something else for the last set. Raw oysters will be had!

Give the guys there my regards. They may not be the same guys who were there when it was built, though.
