Can finally sleep having decided on what to do about the Jazz bass neck issue-

Was thinking about getting the Warmoth neck, but by the time I had all the options I wanted plus a set of tuners it would have been about sixty or so shy of the price of an 2025 open box Fender American Performer neck which has the same frets, finish, and neck profile with the same radius as my 2007.-

Anyhow, after some hemming and hawing, I pulled the trigger at around 3 am-

I put one of those on P-bass with a T-Bird pick up. I rolled the fret board edge a bit and its an awesome neck. Congrats!

I did a build with the P-bass version of that same neck from the same place, with a body I bought from MJT. It was one of those builds that came together so well, I barely had to do a set up, everything just came together perfectly.

Congrats and welcome! As others noted, not on purpose. It can just happen. I try to get mine parallel to the strings but it’s not a big deal. Gorgeous bird! I have the purple sparkle (among others). These have some of the best ever Epi bird pickups IMO.

More progress. Ideal spray booth, right? Talk about pushing it. At least the ventilation is free. This is halfway though spraying the clear. (Spraying in the garage allows fumes to go down to where my mother lives in the walkout basement. Must be some air flow along the plate as there's nothing under the garage.) Anyway, I'm running out of days to spray and finally got some clear on it. Now more waiting and waiting and waiting to sand and polish. Looks darker and richer in person and in my pics before they get copied to the thread. Pasting here they lose something.

Anyway, I'm running out of days to spray and finally got some clear on it. Now more waiting and waiting and waiting to sand and polish. Looks darker and richer in person and in my pics before they get copied to the thread. Pasting here they lose something.

Thanks Jeff. I couldn't get the clear as smooth as I wanted being outside and in between wind blowing, so a put a couple extra coats on to give me more clear to sand/polish. This may be the last day I could have sprayed so I had to when I had the chance. I this point I just want to get it finished and that temptation has to be fought.

In this relatively recent interview he talks about basses and shows a couple of them - mostly Warmoth bodies and necks with different brands of hardware-

He says the reason he went Fretless is because he tired of the tuning on his ftetted basses not being quite right with the vocals or keyboards in the studio. Going Fretless solved the issue-

He also prefers active electronics-

Regardless, he wrote and sang my all-time favorite Doobie Brothers song “For Someone Soecial” -

one of the guitarists in our rotation gigs with him regularly and often mentions his flawless intonation ...
