I was very pleasantly surprised how natural the fanned frets felt. No problem switching either direction.
Ohhhhh crap!I was excited because today was New Amp Day, but GC and UPS tag-teamed me to kill my joy. The wooden case on my ABM600 EVO IV suffered damage and it concerns me for the inner workings of the amp.
So far I have powered it on and let it idle for a while, plugged in a bass, and did a basic test to see if it works. Powers up but no light from the VU meter. Meter is working, just no light. This may be common for Ashdown meters, but this is my first so not sure. The amp makes sound but a couple of static crackles when I adjusted the output, which maybe it just needs the pot cleaned. I will give it proper testing after work but I won't lie, I am a bit nervous about the health of the amp after taking what I think would have been a hard hit. You can see the images below and this break was not in the listing photos on GCs site.
Am I being paranoid, or am I being reasonable by being concerned?
This is the hit mine took.
And it suffered lots of internal issues.
Not sure I’d take the chance on yours.
But I guess time will tell.
You can imagine what a fall it took to bend that rack ear.
I’m just lucky the seller and I had documented everything from before shipping through to when I got it.
The seller was awesome, refunded all my money.
This was though Reverb.
Guess we both just got lucky because he got his money back too.

Jeez. So now I have to go back a zillion posts, find the pic and post it? I guess in your defense, the AI response to the question, at least it was earlier, is that the vintage Gibsons have a flat back, no cut. But there is is plenty of evidence refuting that.

There was a thread this week about a GC bouncing a check to somebody for used gear the store took in. That created a mess for the poor guy.
I don’t like or trust GC at all. But if they make a mistake, I’ll take advantage of it so long as they’re still in business. However long that turns out to be.

Nah. I looked pretty hard at the pics.
I did the 5th, 10th, and 20th. Everyone pretty much lost interest after that. There was a 40th, but only 18 of 440 showed up. I was too busy to be bothered. There is a hard core group of about 100 who pretty much grew up together (many others came and went because of the Air Force) from 4th grade on. There is interest in a last hurrah. So I’ll go. It will probably be fun.

meter backlight should work...crackling in a pot to be expected...the damage on the box doesn't look too bad (dropped mine on a way to a gig two weeks ago, no damage, the wooden cases are pretty rugged) compared to the actual chassis hit Jeff's experienced....the backlight (easily fixed) is important if you're playing dark venues often.....chances are nothing happened to the boards, when you do test it, hook it up, connect a bass to it and when you have sound lift one side of the amp 2 or 3 inches from the resting surface and let it drop to the surface, repeat on the other side and see if any weirdness comes out of the speakers......of course, returning it, is always the safe option...sorry Dude.

You and me both. I just blew all available money buying plane tickets for my family. My priorities suck, as does my timing.
We're waiting to see if the shutdown ends by a certain date to decide between flying and driving to Georgia for an annual (non-bird) GTG.
