Thunderbird Club

My grandfather thought the ship he was on (his way to Sicily from BA in the late 40's) was gonna sink in a bad storm so he promised the lord he would make an offering to the church which he did by way of a statue of the "Virgen de Lujan" (not Guadalupe) in the photos which he personally delivered to his parish, a Cappuccin Convent in his home town of Caltagirone.

My uncle Ciccino mom's brother, can be seen in the photo next to the offering (decades later) once there.

After many years of the family looking for it, we found it with uncle Gaetano, (in photo) at that same convent yesterday ....

That’s cool.
Is that the flag of Argentina ?

So, remove bad #2 from the list... guard crack repaired.

And add that finish under the guard looks exactly like exposed finish with regard to fine polishing scratches, so they are 'factory'...

But add sad point #7; somebody must have sneezed putting this guard screw in at a 20 degree cant....

...which will bug me, so eventually I will have to plug and redrill... but not now.

Diving into the restring before I lose my nerve.

One suggestion would have with those pickups is to try the neck on full and the bridge slightly rolled off.

The lighting guy is still fired. She should be completely lit up. Especially when she's playing that guitar.

It's a little like the cameraman who looks at the drummer and bass player too much. GONE!
Someone who looks at the drummer and bass player too much??? What planet is that cameraman from? :roflmao:

The truth is even scarier... it was a THURSDAY bass!

I have always agreed with Artur Dent... never have got the hang of Thursdays.

Does feel and play wonderfully tho, even with rounds on it, and with the neck still settling. I *really* like the neck dimensions.

Once dialled in... I cant wait.

A friend of mine who has a 2018 LP goldtop says that Gibson was using cryotreated frets at the time. If so, supposedly reduces wear.

So yay.

"what's so unpleasant about being drunk? .... "ask a glass of water"

Sounds good. Feel free to contact me via direct message. As we approach the date we can exchange phone or WhatsApp details.
Perhaps we can find a beer while you are here. 😊

Just one warning though. I am going to Adelaide, and the SA wine areas, “in April” with a couple of mates, and a Kiwi mate that is flying over. The dates aren’t locked in yet so I will endeavour to push it to the end of April… but I’m one vote in 4. It shouldn’t be a problem but can’t guarantee it just yet.

I look forward to meeting you. Hit me up with any questions on our fair city.
Wow, you plan a year and a half out too!

Only 6 months to April 😊 and my Sth Aust trip.

But yeah, 27 will be a car ferry from Wellington, NZ to the Sth Island and a road trip down to Christchurch.

In between I’m trying to think up a trip. Singapore? Maybe. Possibly Mauritius, maybe Perth West Aust before or after. Or maybe Sing/Malaysia/Sri Lanka then down to Mauritius….. hmmm
Mauritius seems to be fairly awkward to get to from here. But on the good side, it’s best to go in winter otherwise it’s too hot/humid.

I was reading that the Dodo’s beak was that shape to crack open the nut from the local Ebony tree and help with their propagation.

Some Thunderbirds have ebony fretboards.
