I have a test mule and a spare stingray pickup and preamps, I’d just need to buy a vintage Mudbucker to see how the combo sounds. I know the Mudbucker can be pretty overpowering so it would be interesting to find out how well it blends with the Ray pup, an active preamp would be essential for the loading or possibly a dedicated volume and bass treble stack for each pickup. Years ago I worked with John East to build a similar custom preamp for a stingray/P bass build I did. It came out great.

Yes the Mudbucker will overpower any other pickup and needs to be dialed way back if you're blending them.

Still on the idea block... I have a decent shape 1992 240 wagon sitting in the driveway.

Mine was the 740. Surprisingly nimble. Great seats. Great AC (I live in Bako). Great stereo. The late 80’s cars were their best. The first version of the circa 2000 S80 was stellar with the biturbos as was the 2nd iteration and the original XC 90 with the Yamaha V8s. Sadly, Ford bled them dry and sold them to Geely. The cars are pretty sad these days. I gave up and drive Subarus these days.

Fun fact. My brother was the chief project designer for the ECC, The first gen S80, the first gen XC90, and the first gen XC60. Those are his body designs. Took them out of the box. Our family was a die hard Volvo family. We owned more than thirty over forty years. Until we weren’t.

Nice! I've had 8 Volvos in my life ranging from P1800 thru the XC90... lots of 200 series (242, 262c, and a couple 245) and a couple other wagons. My family was die hard Saab people until they weren't. Dad's daily was that 2012 Shelby until he passed late spring. Mom's daily is a 2018 Subaru and she is looking to maybe replace it with a 2026. The tbird is her summer convertible.

My first car was ‘59 PV 544. Sold it to a collector when I went away to college. I wish I could have kept it.

We had a bulletproof ‘84 240 DL that I sold at around 200k miles. Wished I had kept it too. Solid, basic, easy to work on. Couldn’t get out of its own way. But it was what it was. Safe, reliable, comfortable, and economical with the 4 speed and overdrive.

My brother, a Mopar guy, went to Art Center in the early/mid eighties and got a second degree (his first degree was a ME from Cal Poly SLO) in trans design. He hooked up with Volvo when they opened the SoCal concept design center in Camarillo. Some great stuff that never saw the light of day was developed there. Ford screwed them.
