I went to my computer. FYI, unless something is off with the camera, you only get the purple glow on fresh nitro. Old nitro normally has a light yellow/green tint under UV. That’s what I see on my 64.

There's a UV shot of the back side of the headstock, it's actually in better shape than mine except that it's missing the bridge cover.

I was wondering why the UV shots. ??was it recovered from a crime scene??

A super high end repair might be invisible to the eye under normal lighting. UV acts differently with new vs old nitro. I am seeing (imagining) a crack through the headstock diagonal to the tuners and not at the nut. Also looks like some refin on the entire neck back.

Oh, and hot tip... ABS pickguard material is no bueno on a laser without a full respirator. Yech.

And it makes a mess; sticky, tarry residue.

Very hard to engrave as it melts rather than cleanly vaporizing.

Acrylic would be better, I think.

But busy fingers = peaceful soul.

Well, It's not worth over 5k. Certainly not to me.
I love the 2 Gen Pbass body. Always have. Likely a Dusty influence. I would love to build one with Thunderbird pups one day.

Right color. Never been a fan of that look for a P though.

To me I find those single coil Pbasses harder to dial in and get to sound right--kind of like a strat or Tele. Whereas a Pbass (staying in Fender land) is much easier. My old '55 is a dream to play even with it's big neck.

Here’s one way to make an intolerably heavy ‘70’s P-bass fall into tolerable (still heavy):

That canyon represents exactly 1lb of now missing material. Even with this, it’s still going to be my heaviest one at about 4 oz over the previously heaviest one, which is right at 11lbs.

You did well getting a whole lb out it! But I wouldn't want to play a whole set with an 11 pounder

Not a bad price. I would consider it if I were looking. According to some ebay listings the mutes or cover are worth $600-700 alone.

I have a TR cover if someone here buys it.

And there are repo bridge covers for cheap on ebay. They're a bit short but easy to space up.
