Thunderbird Club

The ‘64 in action.

It already has a headstock repair, it’s in a reasonably controlled environment on a Hercules stand when not in use, and is just too sweet a bass not to play it!

DI to FOH so the Rumble is my bass monitor.
Love it!

I used my '64 today (days old DTFs) and left the '66 NR at home. Still the top dog. And those strings....
I noticed it had more bigness than the NR with older DTFs. The 916s are definitely brighter, but work great, just different and not and exact reproduction. Possibly more punchy.

It doesn't say neck through, so I would assume it's set neck. But the description says 24 fret, so I wouldn't assume anything:)
At least they have sense enough to call it a “special shape” and not a Thunderbird. I think you’re right that it’s probably a set neck. I’ve mentioned before that those look like Arctec pickups which are ever so slightly narrower than the Gibsons. So someone would likely need to widen the routes to put better pickups in it. I have no interest in giving them any of my money…

Happy Birthday Mr Gator!

In case it wasn’t obvious from the photo, my bass is wearing purple silks!

Supertone Sunday. I forgot I had this bridge in the drawer. Thought I’d give it a try. Works ok on the CP we’re bringing back to life. This Thunderbird has a light body. And the bridge weight makes it noticeably heavier. But nothing worth complaining about.

Not bad. I need to make a few more string height tweaks. I’d prefer the Babicz for finer string height adjustability, but that ain’t gonna happen on this $200 bass.

Sunning color.
