*I got the Ric from the bassist in Drowning Pool. He used it a couple shows and determined it wasn't for him either.

always wanted one of those.....something unusual about a P without a guard and that burst..... :drool: don't think I ever heard one....

I will say that I found Teles much easier to play but back in the 80's the Strats looked cooler-

Over the past few years I had gravitated toward Gibsons for certain songs but none of mine have tremolo bars and I don't want to mod them, so I use my 1990 Strat Ultra plus that came with the three types of Fender Lace sensors - blue in the neck, silver in the middle, and the two red coils setup like a humbucker in the bridge. With the latter you can play them in tandem or individually, bridge or neck side. But with the latest song I'm working on, I'm using the neck/bridge position.

And it is the one exception to Teles being easier to play- don't know if it's the ebony fretboard or some unique neck profile but it's a dream to play - probably the one Strat I do have a set of nine's on for strings-

I've been playing my75 Marauder: alder body, bolt on maple neck with a scarf joint, humbucker and single coil.

I've enjoyed this ever expanding thread for years, I don't own a Thunderbird nor have I ever played one in my 40 years of gigging. Not for lack of desire, just never had the opportunity to play one. Now that I've retired when Covid hit then got diagnosed with a slow but terminal cancer, I doubt I ever will, albeit always wanted to experience the joy a T-Bird brings to it's owners. That being said, do I have to be a T-Bird owner to be member?

I learned a good lesson from JIO regarding the verification that the isntrument in a video is actually plugged in before asserting that's what they played, but even then it may not be the actual instrument. But there is some live footage, and it sounds like one-

Which while I'm at it- check out the remarkable transformation of the FSO to Rickenbacker at 1:15 and back again at 1:25! Only happens once, guess it would've been pretty exhausting!



Not picking- I love the song and video - just an accidental observation having seen it so many times-

The Bongo is growing on me. I’m casually considering it. They recently released their first SBMM version in a kinda cool purple. But I’d rather find a used EBMM. They’re steep though…

Bolder played a Ric on a lot of the Bowie Tracks. AFAIK, he always used a pick.

Cool vid for sure. But that’s not Rojas who recorded it. Pretty sure Rojas played a J of some kind during that era.
