Thunderbird Club

In case you haven’t eaten yet.

I've enjoyed this ever expanding thread for years, I don't own a Thunderbird nor have I ever played one in my 40 years of gigging. Not for lack of desire, just never had the opportunity to play one. Now that I've retired when Covid hit then got diagnosed with a slow but terminal cancer, I doubt I ever will, albeit always wanted to experience the joy a T-Bird brings to it's owners. That being said, do I have to be a T-Bird owner to be member?
Where do you live? There might well be a club member nearby who’d let you play a bird or three.

Boutique builder. Very few of these around. Mostly lefty, believe it or not and mine seems to be the only righty sans pickguard.
Can do active or passive, has a 2 band nordy pre and nordy pups. One of the best trades/deals I ever made. It's a keeper.

From the builder:
I believe there were 15 of these made during the years I offered them, and the majority of those were lefties since there was no lefty SCPB option available in those days. Basses of this model are in North America, Australia, England, and somewhere in continental Europe. All but three were 4-string configurations. All except one custom order for a client in Austin, TX were 34” scale. The lone lefty 5-string was also a 1-piece Swamp Ash body with a vintage burst finish.

Unless I’m forgetting one, yours is one of two that were shipped new without a pickguard. The other one without a pickguard is a lefty that lives in the Phoenix, AZ area.

all the best,

Not too far from where I grew up, my mom still has the house.

Jeffrey Hammond from the fall 1974 tour where I saw Tull play:

He was dressed like that when I saw the on the "Passion Play" tour, they were so good live, nothing at all like the sloppy boring mess that LZ was when I suffered them.

Haven't been on TBird Club-or anywhere on TB-much lately, and not at all Friday, so I forgot to mention: had a gig Friday night. Elks Club, 6:30-9:30. They like us there. We had an almost full house. We always do the first set a full hour so that the time comes out right.
However.
We were interrupted twice for drawings. First was right at seven when they had some kind of raffle or something. OK, no BFD. Second time was the drawing for the 50/50 at ~7:40. As usual, within 15-20 minutes 1/2 the crowd was gone. We keep trying to tell the places that do the 50/50 that people will leave right after and that if they delay it a little bit, the people will buy more food and drink. Will they (management) listen to the band? Nooo.
Oh, well, we got to knock off early. It's a b!tch trying to play to the few 'hangers on' that really don't GAF whether we play or not.

The famous white Rick that Maurice used with great effect. He had a couple of different ones.

I read a story that he gifted a young guy, a teen maybe, a new Rick straight from the factory. I think (?) it may have been a Chris Squire signature model. Maybe, maybe not. Nice story though, a nice encouragement present.
I've always loved The Bee Gee's, especially songs from their early period. I have a Bee Gee's Greatest Hits and every song is a winner!

It sounds like they want to knock off early rather than make a few extra bucks.
