Thunderbird Club

I’m out of the club currently. I had a Gene Simmons model, which played remarkably well. But the pickups were uneven, and had a bit of a noise issue. Probably my noisiest bass. And the low E was less distinct than the A D G, so it was tough to get usable consistent sounds when recording. It was probably my best playing bass, but when recording I always ended up using a different instrument. Anyone have any insight to this? Did I have a bad one? Electronics broken? Or its just how they sound so like it or leave it?
I suspect you had one with a problem.

And the yellow Camaro a couple of cars back. (Who am I kidding? All the cars in it are cool!)
The yellow Camaro is the right color but isn't a convertible. My car has a new floor and a lot of other sheet metal parts now. It needed more work that I thought. Maybe it will be done this summer. Maybe.

First saw this video way back in the mid-80’s- at the the time I wasn’t so much into the music being a classic rock and metalhead but I thought this dude had pretty good taste in cars-

So Cameo got on my radar because of a Spector Euro LX demo video where they were showcasing the diverse artists and sounds they got from the bass and wasn't just a 90's alternative/grudge favorite. And the referenced this video- As with most bassists' video coverage- if you blink you'll miss them, but he's playing a Spector-

I appreciate Cameo more now- love the exuberance and the energy- a welcome change from the brooding atmospheric music I often listen to and write-

If I may revisit this one- I would say that though the instrumentation is relatively sparse, I love the synth textures, the close vocal harmonies, the subtle Fender Rhodes, and of course the bass and the keyboard compliment which I believe is a fifth double stop, something I first noticed on a Joe Sample album.

So I also enjoyed this video by the Gap Band for the humor and joy therein- an automatic follow up by YouTube-

Where was that?
A smaller city in the San Francisco east bay, San Leandro. The town square has a monument to Portuguese fishermen and the city is dotted with various Holy Ghost Halls. The other two dominant ethnic groups were Spanish and Italian. So, my choice of friends were Silva, Sousa, Palmeri, Balero...

Taxes, taxes. Finally got the paperwork done and buttoned in a fat envelope and ready to go. But not until I had to head back to the FedEx to print out yet another from, the 1040 V, in order to write a check. The other options where to pay by phone with service charges attached or to give the IRS a direct hotline to my bank account- no thanks!

A few highlights-

One way to discourage people from sending payments by check- don't provide the payee info. (Though I had it memorized by now)-

"No checks of 100 million or more accepted". Barely got under the wire on that one!

So, I suppose one way to minimize paperwork (perhaps why they don't want check payments) is to create yet another form to send in!

There were a fair amount in Bermuda by way of the Azores- I knew a Sousa and a DeMello, the latter of whom owned one of the. music stores in Hamilton, among others-

Any recommendations for a color laser printer that doesn't have the footprint of an aircraft carrier? The Epson at my parent's is excellent but that's a big house with plenty of room and I need something with a smaller footprint for the condo-

There probably are some inkjets that would fit, but I don't like dealing with clogging printheads and relatively short lifes of cartridges-

Perhaps I should just stick with monochrome?

I prefer Brother over HP. HP doesn't update software and you end up with a boat anchor when you update an OS. I use a Brother MFC-9325CW. Works well and Brother supports their software. Footprint is 18"x24". If you need photo quality on occasion, I'd go with inkjet. Color laser isn't as high a resolution unless you spend some serious dough.

Thank you- would you trust a more recent iteration?

I would, again, depending on the quality of the color print you require.
Ok- I might just get one then- with everyone expected to have a computer, printer, and smartphone these days- mind you I was used to doing without, having lived on a sailboat for 24 years. Though I'm certainly not a Luddite-

I would use mine to print literary stuff for proofing and editing to save money in the long run- the last time I printed my novel at FedEx on 8.5 x 11 (427 pages), it cost a little over 100 bucks.

Can't say that I have tried those, but would definitely give it a try.

Can’t go wrong with bacon, and Wooster 😊

But we don't know how to pronounce it.

It isn’t ShyR on any of those English place names. More like Shear.

(Just realised I don’t know how Americans say shear…?)

How else would we make Chex Mix?

Had to google it… so don’t ask me 🤣

Yes. Lea & Perrins. There is always a small bottle in the fridge.
👍🏻 growing up we always had Holbrooks.
But my wife hasn’t bought it for many years. Might need to grab one.

we do, whustashear sauce....pretty much the whole world does with different names.....based on Roman garum, we use it in cocktails mostly, how else is it used down your way?....
Garum factory ruins....

That’s it! 🤣 Wooster Shear

On steaks, some have it in the frypan while cooking a steak. Some only after as a table condiments

In stews. In “savoury mince”.
