Thunderbird Club

Zero energy left to break out my Doc Martens, much less lace them up.

But I'm down for TB Thursday.

Today was a hell of a week.

Now, for a lil me time.

And I you. If only I had a tenth of your skill. It has been a journey relearning stuff I knew fifty years ago.
Marshall - we are all on the same page when it comes to our passion expressing ourselves individually through music. No rating system involved...

Same here. My bass lesson was a paper a guy drew for me with notes on the neck and Mary Had A little Lamb notes on the back. I kind of play be feel and what I hear in my head you might say. I never count. Well very, very rarely, even then I'm counting beats on the bass (thumps) for others if there is a longer and unnatural space between parts. But I have watched a handful of videos. Most are either over my head or something I already figured out to do.

One thing I always wanted to be good or better at is walking blues bass lines. I can do it, but it doesn't sound as well thought out as it could. But I really don't have a need for it so I don't get to use it unless playing along with a recording.
A competent walking blues bass line is a mainstay in any bass players catalog but it can take many forms. It seems intimating but it's pretty rudimentary. Cover the roots where needed, but feel free to expand melodically around it. "Dixieland" set the president for ensemble improviisation with overlapping solo's - improvise within the format however you interpret your role as a musician and bass player.

Walking bass is easy. Just make sure you have a long enuff cable. Or go wireless. :smug:

So I was just thinking that someday I would like a reverse Thunderbird - all white, even the headstock, with gold hardware and pickup covers.

I don't believe such an animal exists- and I would have to sell some books or music before I could justify the cost- maybe someday ...

So look what I came across in search of an example- not the right color but I don't believe I've seen one like this before-

..."last" boot pic (at least by me!) of my broken-in Dan Post 'rough-outs" - my most iconic footwear which states my Mid-Western roots.

So Im guessing those boots were "made for walkin'?"

And? Leave us hanging why don’t you.
I tried on a pair of goat skin boots in El Paso a year or two ago. I haven't actually bought anything. It may be a while. My wife's car just got tires and my van will get tires tomorrow. That puts a dent in my budget for things I don't need right away.

Plus, I need to check with Miles. I want to become a chick magnet. It must be the boots.
