I despise most remastered recordings. They almost always suck out some of what made the original great.

I remember trying one of the Non-Rev firebirds, & remember it being weird, in the sense the body felt way big for the guitar scale. I'd imagine the bass version feels better overall. While i don't dislike the reverse Firebird/Thunderbird, i think those are fine in both. I've never had the chance to try a Non-Rev Tbird.

I have many of both and find the NR just looks more normal (or dare I say, Fenderish or Jaguar-esque) but the reach to the G string tuner seems a bit longer. The Reverse looks more iconic Tbird to me, nothing else out there really looks much like it and it kinda screams Hard Rock in your face. I don’t notice too much difference in how they feel when I play them or how they sound.

That said, with the exception of one custom NR I built, I have yet to find an NR that sounds as agressive as some of my reverses do (namely my Grecos, Eppi CP, Capped Goth, Lull Petersson and ‘79 Bicentennial). My custom built NR ThunderCaster is the exception and is probably the most agressive passive bass I own, but it’s not anywhere near stock either (ask @JIO about letting loose with a sustained open E, it’s hair raising).

You were right! They completely sucked that cutting bass line out of the remaster. I only have a few birds with flats and not really looking for more, so if you want those EB Pino flats PM me and I’ll ship the barely used set to you.

I had to resolder the leads on the pickup PCB shortly after I got it... they were stripped so long they were shorting together, and the shield wire was cut mostly through.

I suspect the coil wires tend to shift about under the tape.

Problem is intermittent, which nakes it a bear to reproduce much less find. Will go weeks fine then be a PITA for days.
Tapping, wiggling the pickup will sometimes help.

Most frustrating.

But when right, sounds glorious clean.

I'm using my Les Paul Tribute in Reggae-pop (mostly recording) project. Thankfully, no issues.
I've got Chrome flats on it, and it sounds great.

Yours should be under warranty from Gibson.
