I'm pretty sure the old neck is fubar now, having been in storage in unairconditioned buildings since 1998ish.

A local luthier who used to work for Robin guitars and Rio Grande pickups has kindly volunteered to build me a new neck for it.

He's had it a few years now so who knows.....


My big mistake was not tracking down another G3 in the late 90s. I'm sure pricing was more sensible then than now.

For the record, I know Steppenwolf did "Born To Be Wild." I have no idea why I said Bruce pages ago. I never have Springsteen on my mind so have no clue where or what that came out. Too much fun when young I reckon.

Like all bicentennial birds, 100K linear on vol and tone pots, all wired in series. I think the pickups might be wound hotter than earlier models, or maybe they used a different magnet material. IDK, but I love it!

Ringo was probably seen as the least likely to succeed after the band break up, but he’s done quite well and turned out to be one of the most Zen members of the group. Whoda thunk?

He has talent. Brains. And a hot wife. And he got by with a little help from his friends. His Allstar lineups have included many of the best.

Yes I agree.
The current version of our Supercars is a little improved over the previous in that they make the race car meet the road cars main dimensions while still using the control chassis. They also use engines from the manufacturer, I’m not sure what engine the new Supra is using ? Lexus? (Oddly they withdrew the supra from sale here just as the race car was introduced ). AFAIK the engines are a detuned / smaller maybe version of the NASCAR engine for that make. Maybe that has changed with the new formula?
I must say I am a little more interested in this generation (except for the Mustangs winning everything sorry @Mikaelbass ) the previous ones left me cold and I became very disinterested except for Bathurst.

Supercars at least must use real doors and lights which is good.

And it's a shame Supercars isn't shown here. Not on what I have anyway. I would certainly watch it.

I broke out my ‘70 Jazz (60’s spacing ) today. Felt really good. Considering using it or my ‘72 Precision for the Bad Lemon gig on May 9, opening at the Bottom of the Hill. Likely the last time I’ll be on that stage.

My three classics, the ‘71 in the middle has the 70’s spacing.

…and some ‘birds!!

I need to add my rudimentary knowledge of circuits is usually DC. And really just simple open or closed circuits with EOL resistors and switches. I understand that capacitors will store voltage, but beyond that, Inductance and so on get real fuzzy for me.

Well you certainly know more than I do. You lost me with much of that! But that's a pretty low bar.

Can anyone explain how using 500k (as opposed to 250k) volume pots have an effect on the tone (if it does have any at full on volume)? I might be wrong, but when the volume controls are all the way up, aren’t they at 0 ohms or dead short/closed circuit, allowing signal to pass through the pot with no resistance?

Or do I have that backwards, and when the pot is at 0 ohms the related pickup is shorted/off?

If wired the best way, the resistance is constant across the coil and the wiper only decides how much of the output goes through the tone circuit out of the bass. Higher resistance means less loss so more output. It also yields a higher frequency response. (Short answer.)

Both TSC & Bond Girl hope to get a slot before it closes. BG played there once and it was a memorable show. We went on first on a Sat night and the place was PACKED! The other two acts were great but our set had the most in attendance of the night. Totally pro set-up there, sound checked earlier and our on stage performance sound was flawless. One of my best BG memories of the band then.

I’ve always liked that Thunderbird. It has the same generation Tbird Pluses that my Studio has. So I bet it sounds great.

Thanks. It does with the La Bella Black Nylons that Chuck suggested. As you well know I struggled a lot with it. It's a beautiful bass--when there were questions of QC. Mine's as good as you can ask for and plays superbly. I suspect it would sound really good with rounds with the Ashdown given it tightens up tone nicely. But I love the black on black look for something different and given how it sounds I can't imagine putting something else on it.
