Thunderbird Club

I got the Gibby out the other day and tried to tune it. I used the little SX tuner that came with the guitar pack, and clipped it to the headstock. Bloody thing was so far away I could hardly read it!
Anyway that stuffed things up.

So yesterday I tried again with the Snark, a bit better but the letters were a bit faint… then gone! Bloody battery died lol. No watch style battery in the house, of course.

Ok on to plan C.
I dug out the old style tuner that can work off the guitar cable. Cool.
It lasted 30sec and the battery died as well! Aha! No problem, I opened the latch and saw 2 AAA batteries there. We do have spares of those! Anyway, I tuned it up and now that sounds better! They were all half a step off by using the SX with dim lighting. It probably needs a new battery too.

Yes, I did have a plan D. I would have used my Zoom pedal next. It probably needs batteries too!

I’ve contacted the leader of the Young Adults Choir at my Church and offered to sit in if they want a bass guitar added. Wait and see, and start practicing a bit. The guy (Chris) leading the YA’s went to school with my eldest daughter and I’m a nodding acquaintance of his Dad, so he is aware I don’t even loosely fit the YA category 🤣 but he isn’t worried - his problem is getting the YA’s to show up when they promise to lol. The bass situation is their 2nd guitarist is talking about switching to bass, or to keyboards, or to…

So Chris will have a chat and see what the guy actually wants to do, and will let me know. I might end up on the reserves list, which would probably suit me anyway. In the meantime I am invited to come in for a look when I want.

My first car, not really but same make model and colours.
A 1969/70 HT Holden Kingswood, 186ci “red 6” motor and 2speed Powerglide auto on the column, bench seats. Loved it. Mine didn’t have the “Grandpa” sun visor on it though. It did have a chrome bonnet spear though.

Whatever they are, the engines are pretty cool:

Looks like some kind of derivative of a Chevrolet LS pushrod motor. It's not an OHV Ford Coyote motor. If that's what the transmission looks like, it's really odd looking. I'm guessing it's just the clutch, and the transmission is in a transaxle at the back of the car for weight balance. That's just a guess.

My first car looked like this, only far tattier and with no front bumper and disk wheels instead of wire wheels.

It was the perfect car. The motor turned the wheels and made just enough electricity to run the lights and turn signals. It had no radio, no heater, no roll-up windows, and the top wouldn't stay on. You could lean out and put your hand flat on the pavement next to you. The steering wheel was enormous, which was good because the car had no seat belts and you had to hang onto something. I spend many hours rebuilding this and that to keep it running. The motor, the brakes, the front suspension, replaced clutch, rewired the ignition and coil, replaced the windshield when it got broken at one point. I don't remember all the different things I had to do to keep that car running, but it was a lot. And worth it. It was an absolute blast.

I really want another TR-2 or TR-3, but I don't have a place to put one, and they aren't exactly ideal for driving in city traffic anywhere. So, I probably won't ever have one again. It's like Veronica pining for the Ric she let go, only different.

Does it? Looks pretty quad cam to me...like two Cosworths sharing a crank.....

The Coyote in Supercars is listed as DOHC

I recently went from 7 to 6. V recently went from 13 to 37 or something. So I’m guessing I’m on the wrong side of history.

A Rick will at some point return and I see a 2015 Thunderbird as well................
I think Subarus are eternal, my '99 is at 280,000 and just keeps going - just not fast.

I almost never play my 2015. The Flamingo and 2001 get all the love, along with the 2013 EB. It's a character flaw on my part.
