Thunderbird Club

Lord willing and the creek don’t rise, the BroncoBird will be alive sometime in the next week.

It’s a project I started a couple years back, but my cancer fight has kept me from completing it. I have an infusion tomorrow morning so I’ll feel crappy for a few days, but after that, the plan is to start assembling this little beast.

Not sure if it qualifies for this thread, but I thought y’all might dig it.

Bronco body
Bronco neck
EY Thunderbird pickups
Albridge bridge (these are FANTASTIC!)
3 way Gibson style switch
CTS pots
PIO cap
Hipshot tuners

Here’s a quick mockup ….

You are always welcome here! We wish you the very best, and enjoy the project!

Those are the stock tuners that come on the newer Broncos. They’re actually fine, but may replace them with the Hipshot Lollipops “just because”.
Interesting - when you can, can you post more close-up pics of them (stock tuners) frt & bk?

I’ll post tomorrow. They’re decent quality sealed tuners, single screw attachment iirc. They work fine and honestly look pretty good. Would be cool on some more “updated” vintage style projects that just needed something a “little” different visually from the norm, without being way far out there

Dennis Dunaway is a monster player, maybe Alice Cooper's best song.
Some folks had LZ or PF or whatever, this was some of the music that made me want to play the bass, and fueled my liking of Gibson bass guitars.

An AC show was a thing to behold. Everyone should have seen them once. Unbelievably impressive--especially for the time. Years ahead of their time for a theatrical band. (Not sure what the correct term might be, and that sounds too close to Meat Loaf!) Liked some of AC's music (who didn't?), but even I was super impressed by them live. Just incredible. AC may have invented the concept of "sensory overload"! A friend really liked AC and I went once, if not twice to see them. Maybe someone else was doing what they did, but as far as I know they charted the course, set the bar so crazy high it likely too decades for other such bands to catch up. Can't help be be impressed with them.
