Thunderbird Club

@JIO I've seen those tuners on some other Squiers. Like this 6 string Jazz bass.

FWIW, Marshall and I were thinking power amp as well.

there's talk of a "Half Power Mode" online that's selected via a switch that I'm either too stupid to find or doesn't exist on this particular V4 due to it's earlier (or later) rev? .... not much in the power section (replaced a leaky KT88 initially) and as the voltages seem to be in the ballpark, starting to suspect the ouput transformer which would not be the first time with this brand.....

Contact Jimmy M?

I didn't know Trace offered a low power option. But there's much I don't know.
yeah saw you delete your last post..... :smug:
thinking AI could be lying with the switch thing as I don't see it in the service docs (which kinda suck) leaving me wondering....from what I read online the switch disables two KT88s which is easily checked with a scope....that's next....

Yeah, at first I thought you had a fender but the blue on light was confusing, and mention of V4 made me wrongly think of Ampeg V-4B. The Trace never crossed my mind until you posted Mark's pic.
Used my ABM 300 yesterday with the '55 P. Great pair.

Dennis Dunaway is a monster player, maybe Alice Cooper's best song.
Some folks had LZ or PF or whatever, this was some of the music that made me want to play the bass, and fueled my liking of Gibson bass guitars.

Still one of my fave albums, ever. Halo, Desperado, Dead Babies, and Killer are all way up there, but I think I knew Halo by heart first.

First time I've seen that combination (Y tuner machines/post with sculpted pegs)
I have a set on the 32" EB I built. Nextgen sells them:

Thanks Irv - but it appears they are 'out of stock' ...

speaking of amps......thing sounds awesome broken..

My BR-9 amp had a torn speaker cone when I got it. It was quiet, but it sure had an amusing, ratty sound. It was a fire hazard, so it all got rebuilt. I had to get the speaker reconed, since it's a field coil speaker with the transformer mounted on the speaker. No way to put in a modern speaker without surgery.

Scott - going by memory here and not at home where I can check my files, but IIRC Eppi used a 5 string sized jazz pup on the 4 string NR basses. So if you go the Geezer route (which I highly recommend) be sure to double check your Jazz pup size before ordering. Also, the Geezer set that I used came with all the quick connect solderless pots and jack - note - no knobs, and the stock Eppi knobs don’t fit the EMG pots, so plan on some after market set screw equipped knobs (I was generously gifted a cool set by @JIO, pics to follow shortly).

BTW - did I say what a fantastic club this is! Huzzah to our Queen for setting the example for all TB club leaders to follow!

I still need to install that NR bridge and guard you sent me weeks ago. Thanks so much for being part of the club and an active supporter! Love how you and countless others here keep moving the Tbird passion forward on a daily basis. Now if you could just get that roadie guy of yours (Geddy who’s his face) to start contributing here, jeeze, what a slacker he is. ;)

shoehorning an OT may be more straightforward than anticipated....
