Might have been a bit too warm, too.

Guess I'll be sanding back just the face, and ditching the red tip for the original white one.

Thankfully Im doing an edge burst on the body, so the blend wont be obvious.

Grain preservation says dont sand too much.

If it was easy it would not be as satisfylng.
I suppose it's possible another coat may soften and level them, but not worth the chance I wouldn't think.

As for the last part--Yes that's what we say. We know it's utter nonsense and know full well it would be far more satisfying if it were easy. But I take your point! Man do I take your point. I had to go back a number of times on things.

When I tried them, I followed the instructions (on the VP, the ‘15, and an Epi bolt-on). No big deal. Just didn’t care for them. To me they felt weird. And not enough zing or whatever you want to call it that I get from Stainless rounds. So I gave them away.
Flats are not known for their zing but EBCFs get closer than most.

Which is why I gave them a shot.
My thought as well. I have always disliked flats but that opinion was formed 40+ years ago. I wanted to try them again.
It will take some time to get accustomed to the different feel but I want to give it time.
On the P Bass-Bird I am noticing some tonal differences with the flats that I like and want to try it with the band to see if those differences translate live.

Yep real.
Both Bugatti’s on loan to the museum by the owner. That Veyron is seriously impressive to look at. Seems wider than it is long. 😊
Type 35, wow don’t often see these around!
I actually saw one of those in person about 50 years ago. It was not especially big. It ran, more or less, which was a complete thrill for the 16 year old me.

I had a similar experience much later. I saw a Vincent motorcycle. It ran, made a great sound, and leaked oil. It was fully authentic.
