I have never tuned down (or used my drop D) either. Maybe I should have, but so far it's working for what I do.
But if I do have to play parts higher with less beef than I like, I will use the Sub Harmonic magic button on the Ashdown ABM to add some lows back in. Problem solved.

My SR was beautiful, very comfortable to play, had something like a Pbass neck (love unfinished necks), but didn't love it enough to keep it. Never regretted selling it. Actually thought the 5er sounded better. Did get irritated with EB when the finish lifted off the body by the bridge. The pressure of the bridge caused it to bulge up under the strings. I bought it new and and EB said it was out of warranty (not by much), but they would sell me a new body for $350--if I returned the old one. I protested that this was not an old bass and something from the factory was off--clearly nothing I could have done to cause it. Nope. $350 and my old body. I wasn't impressed and would never by one again for that reason. They make a quality product--but Fender and Gibson as far better warranties and stand behind their work. I got the new body, attached the neck, disclosed it was a new factory body and sold it.

Bongo's :rollno: ...even if they sounded good. Never played a MM but many like them.

When my parents had a house in Tahoe City, it was broken into by bears at least 3 times. Massive messes. They used to raid garbage cans but the city passed an ordinance requiring bear proof garbage bins. Took away their food source, so they went after a new one. Law of unintended consequences.

We take all trash to the transfer station daily. Outside garbage cans are verboten. We have multiple cameras and electric bear mats that we installed after the break in that happened in 2024. We no longer keep any food in the house when we’re not here. It’s a PITA, but easier than dealing with the mess they make. And the property damage.

I was here, but slept through the visit after working outside all day doing fire remediation. My son, who is in Bako, got the camera alert and triggered the alarm. I didn’t even hear it. First sighting at our immediate location this year, although there have been a few break ins several streets away already. But not in our immediate area. There are 13 active bears in our section of Las Padres National Forest. They did not go into hibernation this year.

There are still some people up here who aren’t with the program. It’s very annoying. Price of living in paradise.

Next time you are up here, I'll show you how to get it up and down stairs. It's not near as daunting as you would think. It's just time and technique. Even better, come up before I get new knees and you can see that even a man with no fully functional legs can do it.

My “basement” is street level with a door. No issues with stairs unless I want to keep it in the “main floor” living room or upstairs in loft.
