Thunderbird Club

This is an awesome doc - thank you so much for posting. It strikes a big chord for me - a Kustom amp was the 1st amp I lusted after as a new teen. I saw/heard them locally live (Omaha Nebraska!), and I had a (hands on) catalog that showed all the colours - I wanted sparkle white! Then I saw the pricetag...

In retrospect, the white would have aged yellowed and I'm not drawn to "aged pearl white" (similar to how a sparkle white... evolves) PersonallyI like fresh WHITE pearl white. Aged/ambered... not so much. And I love vintage amber'd finishes, but not pearl white,,,

Ironically enough, I have never played through one! Funny right? My childhood dream rig - never played through... sad  I imagine it is loud and boomy. But those amps as late '60s icon's of the kick-ass R&R generation? - Iconic with a capital I - nothing comes close.

Never knew those were loaded with Altecs.

So you're making poison, but after a while a version comes out that won't kill you immediately...
:roflmao: Well done!

Poison Whiskey

[Verse 1]
Daddy was a Cajun, baby, raised on southern land
And so my kinfolks tell me, was a street-fighting man
Well, they rushed him down to see the doctor
Well the doctor just checked his head
The only thing that was wrong with him was Johnny Walker's Red
He drank ole poison whiskey
And it killed him dead
Aw yeah

[Verse 2]
Happened back in the bayou many years ago
Satan came to take him and he did it real slow
Well, they rushed him back to see the doctor
Well the doctor just shook his head
Twenty years of rotgut whiskey done killed this poor man dead
He drank ole poison whiskey
Till it killed him dead
You people hear what I said
Sweet guitar

[Guitar and Piano Solos]
Oh poison whiskey

[Verse 3]
Take a tip from me, people
Brothers can't you see
Ain't no future in ole poison whiskey
They're gonna rush you down to see that doctor
Well the doctor's gonna shake his head
The only thing he's gonna tell you baby
Stop drinking Johnny Walker's Red
Don't drink poison whiskey, don't you drink it boy

Use this new version because it's live and has some Thunderbird action.

My daughter got her dual degrees from UBC yesterday, and to my surprise our club trailer was on campus!

What? No Cordoba? From a man of your intelligence and class, I'm shocked. Concerned even. Something is not right. Maybe you need to talk to Dave's daughter.

Seriously, I do get it. They are not for everyone. The desire for an AMX certainly is a good contender.

I suppose you have ruled out a Pelham Blue Chrysler as well.

I love almost everything that is blue. I even love a lot of MOPARs. But not that horrific thing. Please never post it again. Thank you.

I'm getting resigned to it, looking forward to being at peace with it. I can say I have no wants. I have sold 7 basses in the last year, and really only miss the White VP, but since I still have the black VP, I'll get over it. My only regret was never buying a Greco Thunderbird, but not enough to get one, even though I am still going to sell 2 more basses which would more than cover a Greco. So I guess my GAS is truly over (I know, famous last words).

I'm still weak, I would gladly own a Kubicki, Aria SB1000, '66 Non Reverse, '86 Thunderbird II, several of Uwe Hornung's custom Birds, Ibanez lawsuit Destroyer, a 4001 Rick or a good clove of one..................

Happy with what I have, if none of the above were to happen life would still be pretty damn good.
Getting this one meant a lot, I had wanted a '60s II for more than 20 years.

Those '60s Reverses or NRs are indeed special.

My GAS for basses and amps has definitely backed down over the last 6 months. I have about every variant of bird I’d want and same with amps. However, my car GAS is starting to percolate. Over the last month I sold two of my three Porsches…

As nice as my Cayenne is, I can’t seem to come to grips with only having one car, so I’ll be adding something back to the stable. No idea what just yet but it’s gotta be a used fun daily driver, maybe pre 1976 to avoid CA smog issues. Taking all suggestions (Sorry Donnie, it won’t be a Cordoba). Right now looking at everything from Jeeps and Trucks to Corvettes and Porsches and even eying this little gem in honor of Chucky…

Of course, if a really tempting extra special Thunderbird bass should pop up I’d probably take a swing at it (guess I’m not fully cured yet).
You need one of these. It's a gig-mobile and rolling art.
