Lol yeah guitar players are wildly un self aware, no lie I carry ear plugs at all times 😁 I'm presuming it's a 90's South Korean Epi Rivoli. They are good basses and a reasonable option to the original. I'd pop a 60s muddy in there. Man $400 in store credit that'd be burning a hole in my pocket like a kid with thier allowance.
headphones only at Gibson Factory Nash.....

neck dive?....looks like it would want to, you haven't talked about the provenance of that bass in awhile....Japanese if I recall? thought I recognized most bass body shapes but that would be unrealistic....cool pics
Ok. *Sigh*
It's an '83 Hamer Cruisebass. I got it around 2012, and ended up chopping it to look like what you see here.
The artwork, another mistake really, followed.
I've had the strap buttons configured so that there has been zero neck dive, in fact it's been a brilliant player.
It was originally set up with DiMarzio PJ p'ups, sounded great. I eventually put a set of Ric 4003 p'ups in it that Jeff gave me.
Now it's getting all the routs and most of the knob holes blocked in, and will receive a Gibson re-issue TB p'up.

This is a mission of redemption.

I've kept a pair of earplugs on my keychain for over ten years and keep spares in my gig bag-

awesome, didn't wanna strike a nerve ;) but was trying to remember....pic of the original body shape somehow helps....looks like excellent quality construction....

what drove the question is the body shape that reminds me of Westones, was that intentional?

Not a nerve, just regret, and the fact that I've incurred some chewing out from time to time for it! The crew over at ebassist.com gave me a good running down over it, and I actually butted heads with another guy at basschat.uk. We got through that one ok!
Meh, it no longer pokes me, I just still feel it sometimes. That's part of this whole redeeming business- I want it to be something that I'll be happy to play- and it is very comfortable actually.
The Westone thing has been mentioned before, but wasn't a vision or anything. Actually "SG" occurred to me while it was in progress. But I had no vision for what it would be, I just wanted to lose the upper horn because of ergonomic related issues I was having at the time.
That's the short answer, lol...

I think it's a well built instrument, yeah. The set neck seems well done, sturdy and stable.

People throw their cell phones at the band now?
Seem they throw a number of things at bands these days. And not the kind of things that used to get thrown at bands and smoked. I've read of a few performers walking off stage. Who wants to blindsided by some object you can't see coming until it's too late, even an empty cup? I don't know what form of brain damage a person has that they think it's a good idea to throw something at a performer. Drunk, immature, moron is what comes to mind. A few other things that don't need to be said do as well.

Someone wad throwing ice at VH at the long gone Hollywood Sportatorium in FL and the band instantly (and impressively) stopped and DLR went "theres some a'hole throwing ice at the band but that's ok cause I'm gonna F... his girlfriend after the show!" and just like that, the band rocked back into "Hang 'em Hi".....it was SO slick, I think it was rehearsed...

Or crazy teen girls throwing jelly beans at the Beatles because Harrison once said in an interview that they were his favorite.

Thanks! That’s pretty much what I was expecting to see. Are all pots audio or just the volume pots?
I typically use audio taper on all my pots unless I’m trying to duplicate original wiring that calls for a linear taper.
Are the pickup locations identical?
Pretty much. The ā€˜79 neck pickup is about 1/8ā€ closer to the neck, and both pickups on each bass are spaced about 4ā€ apart from each other.
You, Sir, would have made a pretty fair draftsman! ;) :smug:
LOL - 5 years of drafting classes in junior HS and HS followed by an associates degree in mechanical design and working for about ten years as a Drafter, Designer and Senior Designer with extensive experience on the board and with CAD stations will do that to a person.
Those wiring diagrams were a quick 10 minute drawing from memory, very sloppy but it got the point across.

We're breaking in a new beater (drummer), we were having him listen to Needle and the Spoon by Skynyrd last night at practice, and I was playing along after the intro and noticed that the bass through our P.A. and what was coming out of my amp was identical in tone. I walked over to our singer and asked him if I was hearing it right, he couldn't tell a difference. Amazing since Leon played a '66 NR (?) and mine is a 2014 reverse. But then again this bass is special....
