Thunderbird Club

@Miles_ONeal @TBird1958
Here’s the correct wiring for the Bicentennial Tbirds. Note the 3 pot values should all be 100K ohm.

cool stuff....to think only Appice's still around.... they only show Bogert when singing....one of the best players ever......:rollno:

I agree - he was my main man when starting out playing bass in 1966 -

So I txtd Skully (John Macintosh) Geddy's guitar tech and he has confirmed that the Cardinal Red '64 Thunderbird does have a Badbird Bridge installed, the Inverness Green Nonreverse doesn't but he's not satisfied with the intonation and during a break in the tour he's going home to grab one. He had some nice things to say " Bottom line never play a vintage Thunderbird without a Badbird Bridge!" Skully is going to take some pictures for me.
I really didn't expect Geddy to bring his Thunderbirds out on the road again, he really must have taken a shine to them. I'm beyond pleased by all this, just knowing my little bit of metal is out there doing it's job is pretty satisfying.
Man, that’s a beautiful bass. Love that red- I wonder if that was ever a standard option as with the Firebird VII?

Just a little sidebar here, since I've mentioned this old battle-axe before. Here it is close to the end of phase 1, stripping the old artwork and nitro. I don't know what to call this one anymore, since I'm kind of bringing it back to pre-artwork, and it's getting a Gibson re-issue Thunderbird p'up instead of the Rickenbackers that were in there (Jeff's old p'ups 😎), so it's not a Heckinecker anymore.
I'm thinking it'll get shot with black poly, add a cream-white pickguard and trc, and a single chrome TB p'up.
Anyway, got it pretty much stripped.

Brass wire brush on a last treatment of stripper, a wipe-down with mineral spirits next. I'll probably set a block into the Jazz pup rout and make sure the new pup will fit about where one of the Ric p'ups was. There are a few holes to deal with from the old harness/pots. Plug/Epoxy this, sand that... Then at some point it's off to the auto body shop.
(Edit: I've got a friend who does auto painting, he's good at it. He's into bartering and has some carpentry he wants done at his house. I like the bartering idea, way better than working there and spending here- just a fair exchange. There's a better spirit to it I think.

Reminds me of a Hamer

We're breaking in a new beater (drummer), we were having him listen to Needle and the Spoon by Skynyrd last night at practice, and I was playing along after the intro and noticed that the bass through our P.A. and what was coming out of my amp was identical in tone. I walked over to our singer and asked him if I was hearing it right, he couldn't tell a difference. Amazing since Leon played a '66 NR (?) and mine is a 2014 reverse. But then again this bass is special....
Love that song and love playing it.

Leon also played at least one reverse.
