@TBird1958Noice!!!!
Lovely! We’ll have to compare notes. Not sure how many of the red ones were made but yours and mine are the only two I’ve seen.So this fellow actually showed up yesterday. Quite something really, it's in pretty good shape for a 35 year old bass that has definitely been played a lot. Plenty of wear on the gold plating around the pickups, only a couple very small dings in the body, overall, the craftsmanship is pretty good, The 3 position toggle allows you to select neck, mid and bridge, or bridge pickups. There's a little bit of fret sprout, likely the bass having lived in Minnesota has something to do with that, it's not horrible and I can certainly play it without difficulty. With regard to tone, I'll hold off for now, I'm going to put some Ken Smith's on it (The Original Purple Silks) and enjoy working with it for awhile.

Dig that Rickenbacker. Crazy amp too!We’re doing this!View attachment 7527476
Hpf?...Hah! I ended up playing the Ripper all 3 sets. Everyone loved the sound.
When I tried the Ric, it caused a low frequency resonance through the PA. The sound guy is not a great troubleshooter...but I think there's a TB rule about slagging sound people, so I'll leave it at that![]()

When I do sound, I put HPF on every channel.Hpf?...
It's a 1970 Marshall 2031 100w PA power amp. I drive it with a GK MB200. The MB200 has an XLR line out and a 1/4" line out/ headphone jack with a switch to set it to either level. XLR goes to the mixer, 1/4 to the 2031 input.Dig that Rickenbacker. Crazy amp too!
Whatta you got to lose? If it’s a dud, just move it along. But of course I say that, given my name.It's a 1970 Marshall 2031 100w PA power amp. I drive it with a GK MB200. I can always get it done with a SS amp, but cranking those tubes feels really nice. Especially outside where you don't have all the room acoustics going on.
Not by much. A wise man would have learned a lot earlier than I. And it’s still pretty random!My older brother is the wiser brother!
A red bird with gold hardware and three pickups has been my plan for some time. Although now it may be the purple sparkle. Or maybe both. We’ll see.I’m a lot jealous. If it were blue, I would be plotting.
Someone's having a blast!!! Awesomeness VHappy Thursday!

love the Grace Jones!As Grace Jones didn’t quite say “Slave to the Marshall”
But “Slave to the Rhythm” works too
