Chambers Brothers bass player?
Nope. It be Tiran Porter (Doobie Bros.)Chambers Brothers bass player?
I think I saw that rig in one of the Road Warrior movies...Garage psych rehearsal, out the Classic Pro through this, the GK set for "AAAAARRRrrrrkccche!!!." You know, the hitting the rails thing. Sounded pretty gnarly.

Broughton hpf>Sansamp BDDI>GK400RB>Hartke Kickback-12 enclosure w/ Hartke neo 12. The Hartke head is going to the shop, but this works. A little janky looking, but it sounds good.
Your gonna have to picture the Thunderbird, I'm sorry
I really like pushing that little GK head! Sounds really good, like musical dirt that got rubbed in your face... It's an '85, and it looks it- but it's got all its knob caps!

And at least one had a watermelon.I hope our Canadian bird brothers and sisters had a great day!

I've definitely thought about doing a refin, for the price I can't complain.Reminds me of primer. I’d likely treat it as such! But congrats, man!
Good, I don't feel so bad for doing the same. Wasn't sure where that was going when this popped up...Yes (thank you for enriching what little brain I have left) , I had to look that up, it's true.![]()

@JIO ask Chucky to introduce you to him.Nope. It be Tiran Porter (Doobie Bros.)
You are such a coquette!
Mike's Les Paul is heavy, so he needs a wide strap. That may have come with the guitar.I have a strap like that! My oldest ('74?) now used exclusively on my '64 II.

Added the metal Aztec-ian buttons at one point I did some leather tooling on the edges. It originally was more the hue of that one. It's seen a lot of action! I should give it a good leather cream rub-down!

Hah! I ended up playing the Ripper all 3 sets. Everyone loved the sound.what kind of bass when you jump to six string?
The Eppi VP 760 ProBucker pickups are capable of being pretty bright in stock form. Before flipping out pickups I’d consider confirming you have a 500k ohm tone pot and then change out the tone cap to an orange drop .022uf cap.
Then if you still want to add a series parallel switch go for it.
I find the VP to be very string sensitive, so you might also consider some nice bright gritty grindy growling stainless strings to bring out the top end.
100%! Gave my 760's a good play and they're definitely bright and clear. They are not dark or thin; they just have a lot of midrange, maybe also in conjunction with the mahogany body. And maybe I should quit using a coiled cable with a passive bass...The 760s are pretty bright. The first ones from VPs more so. If you can't get bright out of them something else is off I would think. Of course something could be not right with them. My 916s have less aggressiveness and mids and are a cleaner bright than the VPs. That's what I recall when A/B ing them.
I wouldn't call my sidewinders bright. Definitely not compared with the 760s which are clearly brighter.
so those were not your guitars?Hah! I ended up playing the Ripper all 3 sets. Everyone loved the sound.
When I tried the Ric, it caused a low frequency resonance through the PA. The sound guy is not a great troubleshooter...but I think there's a TB rule about slagging sound people, so I'll leave it at that![]()
Noice!!!!So this fellow actually showed up yesterday. Quite something really, it's in pretty good shape for a 35 year old bass that has definitely been played a lot. Plenty of wear on the gold plating around the pickups, only a couple very small dings in the body, overall, the craftsmanship is pretty good, The 3 position toggle allows you to select neck, mid and bridge, or bridge pickups. There's a little bit of fret sprout, likely the bass having lived in Minnesota has something to do with that, it's not horrible and I can certainly play it without difficulty. With regard to tone, I'll hold off for now, I'm going to put some Ken Smith's on it (The Original Purple Silks) and enjoy working with it for awhile.
