Thunderbird Club

Was visiting a guitarist friend who was talking all these different tubes he tries in his amp- like using a KT-66 in place of an EL34 for more or less what he calls "sag" or maybe it was more "chime" I admit I lose track after a while-

Wait, here it is, the actual text-

"So the KT66 is "louder" but breaks up later with less "gritty" crunch. It sounds fatter/warmer a little darker pushing the mids. What an original JTM45 would sound like. It needs to be pushed and EQ up front. Definitely more dynamic and responsive sounding. Kinda old school."

Some of his tubes-

Dude I don't have a clue- I just plug in and play-
those are my favorite, they bring me many blown up amps...

Anyone else cheering on the Black Stars?

I'll put them in the mail with another set I got floating around....

Dude. Thank you for the time you put into them, and for the good packing buzz! I like to think the Samsonite Gorilla is waiting for anything I put through any shipping service. There's one character I want to disappoint...
And thank you for the throw in- maybe I'll find something loud to put them in!
I found years ago that generosity runs rampant here. Thank you.

George suggested that I make some t-shirts from one of the bass oriented illustrations from my novel-

You've already seen that one- which I will keep the captions - Garrett will clean up and enhance the images and add the captions digitally - from there on we'll do versions with and without the reference to the novel. Later we'll see about lining up a print on demand t-shirt company to save overhead.

Garrett recommended that we do this one as well-

I was debating what caption style for this previous image might be best- I think this would be best though initially thought of reversing the captions with "Play Bass" at the top. Mind you the fonts would be much more prominent on the t-shirts (the biggest I could do here was 26 pt) and we might use various colors. I do like the double-meaning of "Space" referring to the unique tonal domain of the bass in a musical setting as well as a psychic mindscape.

Play the Bass!!

I only have two so I’ll hang on to them.

But imo for the vintage tone T’bird you are building? - use mahogany.

Yeah still thinking about it, though it wont be a proper tbird neckthrough build (going bolt on, easier to setup & less guess work involved). & i suppose my reservations of using mahogany stems from the rather poor lumber cut of my ungothed epi bird (its mahog is quite brittle, soft, & stupidly dry). But im sure a real slab of hog wood would be miles better over it. My thought of using alder was if epiphone use it, & my 75 grabber has it (& sounds fantastic), could be passable for a vintage tbird type tribute/inspired by. TBD, its a later build anyway
