Thunderbird Club

Very nice- what pickups do you have there?

Precisions- I dig them too-

My Fender American 50's Original was the model in the Möbius poster- the bass, not the blonde bombshell, the latter of which was a figment of our collective imagination.

The pick ups are a Lollar and a Dimarzio Relentless Middle P.
Been through so many P pick ups, finally found one that’s voiced to my liking.

So I figured I'd give mom a little equal time- I special ordered this dress for her granddaughter's wedding from Macy's she picked out and we went there today for her to try it on and it fit!

I had previously ordered from Temu and Amazon, along with visiting four different resale shops and had come up empty until today-

It's only fair after all the music stuff I've bought for myself over the past month-

You’re a great son.

So that T bird pup is a Lollar... How similar is that to the Gibson re-issue I wonder. Just asking concerning the placement you have there.

I think my wife would leave me if I got a pedal steel...
My wife has laid down the law on several things. That is not one of them, probably because it never came up. Maybe only because it never came up. Country music is not her thing, although she likes Dolly Parton a lot. There are no straight lines anywhere.

I'm not a country fan either. Maybe bluegrass. But there are a few songs where I like the steel guitar, lap or otherwise-

"There's No Way Out of Here", both the original Unicorn version and David Gilmour's. The latter, along with a fair number of others, I originally mistook for a harmonica.

"Old Man" by Neil Young.

"Breathe" by Pink Floyd

"Lunatic Fringe" by Red Ryder

"When the Levee Breaks" by Led Zeppelin

And you could play. pretty any standard slide guitar parts with it. I would rather do that than special tune regular guitars.

I imagine that was Gilmour's philosophy since for the longest he just had that one black Strat. When he played live, the slide part of "There's No Way Out of Here" was either played by overdriven Strat or saxophone player.

I don't know how anyone could not like Dolly! My cover band played 9-5 at our last 2 shows - we even had the typewriter sound effects: Em was tapping on a cowbell and Mar used a bicycle bell for the line return "ding" :)

My wife is very patient with all the music happening at our house, but I would not push my luck by practicing lap steel.

are they just laying against the rail without anything behind them?
Nothing but a rough deck and a dash of stupidity. Risky I know, but recall this ain't California where the earth moves all the time.
It was years ago and I may have had something on the rail, but don't recall. The '64 was closest...just in case.
