You know it was so long since I had played bass, when I picked it up again I didn't realise the action on both basses was quite high. It was only when @Dadagoboi's beauty arrived that the penny dropped. It was the NR41 set me on a quest to straighten the Epi neck ... and the discovery that a little more truss rod play is required. Yesterday I talked to someone with a reputation for knowing what he's doing, and one day soon the Epi is going in for a new properly radiused and cut bone nut/addition of a truss rod spacer.

Once my strings come in I'll be doing the same with most of my basses. None of them were really setup while under my ownership and spent a lot of time not being played the past few years. So a good setup is well over due for me.

At least that many different pickups, I'll think about that but since the videographer is a good friend that will do the review piece for free, I don't want to push it too much with him - but I'll chat him up about it.

Here's the biggest thing i'm struggling with right now.
After hearing that demo of the vintage pro, i'm spoiled by that tone.
I also have to crack and spend some of the dough i've been saving, for an air conditioner.
I live on the top floor of my building, and once the heat sets in, it's just miserable.
So between being a cheap ass, and sleepless nights.......................
I may schlepp out to Carl Place Long Island's SA this weekend and check out the 2015 they have.
I'll bring along the Jazz bass as a possible trade if i fall in love with it.
But it'll have to be layaway if i do it, thats the good thing about SamAsh vs. GC, they don't do layaway.

edit; i was wrong about SA having a 2015 out in LI, it sold a while ago.

Mine was 1.5" as well. According to the Epi website, they're supposed to be 1.73 at the nut. I'm trying to figure out if that's bad intel, or if the more recent models could have gone to a wider nut.

Mine is 1.73" inch at nut, but it is fairly slim front to back - I guess that is 'slim taper' that they talk about

Like unwrapped cables in a bag or box. They mate, and make little cables. Cables- especially the babies- have no discipline, and run amok between the grownup cables, creating a disorderly tangle.

That's why you should try and never show up late to a gig... you need to be sure you don't have to separate them all, which takes time and patience. You don't want to injure the babies in your hurry to start on time.

Got 3 hours' sleep last night.

Most of what i've done in the past was very physical, i'm a paralegal now, quite the change from hauling luggage and moving 40' ladders.
And i envy you that you are playing an upright.
My short lived upright playing was in junior high, i had to take the mandatory music and art classes.
Well, wouldn't you know i got 99's in music and art, and failed everything else.
Got left back a year because of my thinking everything else was BS.
I still think everything else is.
