Family aside ( because I know that's most important) I think you'd find work as a Paralegal out here without much trouble. But yeah, family - I get it.

I know, but the difference would be what i do now as opposed to what a paralegal does in the traditional sense.
I work for a non profit organization and work with kids.
If i were to go with a private firm, i would not have the benefits, freedom and flexibility that i have now.
But that's not to say it couldn't be done.
Mid life crisis, been going through that my whole life.
There is a happy medium in there somewhere.

Like unwrapped cables in a bag or box. They mate, and make little cables. Cables- especially the babies- have no discipline, and run amok between the grownup cables, creating a disorderly tangle.

That's why you should try and never show up late to a gig... you need to be sure you don't have to separate them all, which takes time and patience. You don't want to injure the babies in your hurry to start on time.

I had my "mid-life crisis" early - it was a dark time. Got it out of the way and only look forward since then. We all have our own gauge of 'happy' and ultimately we are the only ones who can adjust it. But speaking more specifically, working with the future (kids) is a noble calling -

There's nothing quite like working with kids. When I was 17 and 18 I worked on basically a 40 foot jungle gym where you have a harness on, and helping kids out was definitely the best part of the job. It's has an instant gratification feeling and to them it will last their lifetime.

Never had kids either - my artist life wouldn't permit it. But I've been a teacher (of university level art) and have total and unquestionable respect for those on the front-line. (teachers and parents) Take great pride in holding it down in that dept in whatever shape or form it takes.
