Here's the biggest thing i'm struggling with right now.
After hearing that demo of the vintage pro, i'm spoiled by that tone.
I also have to crack and spend some of the dough i've been saving, for an air conditioner.
I live on the top floor of my building, and once the heat sets in, it's just miserable.
So between being a cheap ass, and sleepless nights.......................
I may schlepp out to Carl Place Long Island's SA this weekend and check out the 2015 they have.
I'll bring along the Jazz bass as a possible trade if i fall in love with it.
But it'll have to be layaway if i do it, thats the good thing about SamAsh vs. GC, they don't do layaway.

edit; i was wrong about SA having a 2015 out in LI, it sold a while ago.

Someone posted this on the discussion board over at the Epiphone site;

"They say 10-17 available. Probably more like 3-18. I waited months beyond the "so-called" release date for my '58 V, & "Treasure" Firebird 1, but I must admit that it was worth the wait. I'm glad to finally be able to pick up a re-issue of a '63 Thunderbird IV. Wish they'd do the II single pickup model though...."

Thunberbird II single model in Pelham Blue would suffice.

I try not to take sides, instead appreciating each flavors plus's. As many have pointed out only judging from this overview will not tell the whole story. I play J's and love what they do and how they sound. Here's something I found related to the D'Addario NYXL strings featuring a Sandburg J. Regardless of personal preferences, any bass can sound good in the right hands. I especially identify with picking/palm-muting the neck pu - love that Carol Kaye tone!

I'm not rushing into anything as of yet Fix.
There is another great deal i had mentioned some pages back about an excellent condition neck through Epi at SA.
But the action was quite high, may go back there Saturday and see if they can get it low.
That may tell me something.

Thus, the reason for my suggestion. You know how long these proceeding can stretch out;)

When I first wrapped my hands around the neck on the bird I just got, I instantly decided it was going home with me, regardless of the fact that the action was a half inch high! I wouldn't even hang it back on the wall. I took it over to their little workstation near the cash register, where I stood & waited until I was approached. When I casually mentioned the crappy action, the guy reached under the workstation, grabbed a couple tools, and gave it the fastest truss rod/set up adjustments I'd ever seen. Was it perfect? No... but it got it in the ballpark, which gave me the opportunity to confirm my decision before I left the store. Do ya think your shop would do that for ya? It's worth an ask! I bet that if you explained to them that you were considering the piece but were concerned about the action, they would most likely give it a tweek:thumbsup:

I'm sure they would do it to make a sale.
But here's the thing Fix, it's not the wait, i can hack that, i just have this strong gut feeling to hold out for the vintage pro.
I like my Jazz, it's just not the right tone for me.
Besieds, i need to buy an AC after work, this heat and humidity is killin me lousy.

edit; by the way, the neck on said Epi is straight, action just way to high.

That would be 24 Epi's including the 3 Vintage Pro's - But not counting the Elite models and NR's...

I don't dare thinking how many it would be with all the Gibson iterations... :nailbiting:
