No idea why people thought that cherry was a color option - Neither the preliminary info, nor the Epi website has mentioned that color option, and they ought to know best...

Anyway, I would vote both an Alpine White and an Ebony bird - White looks sexy under stage lights and Ebony just looks classy with the chrome hardware.

@TBird1958 Had a reputable source saying there was. And if you go on Sweetwater website look at the Ebony version, the small description under the title says it's actually cherry. This was before the Epi site even mentioned the bass.
More of an Alpine White person myself anyways.

Thanks, it sounds very Metal, very Doom. It has such a deep rich yet punishing sound while maintaining clarity and that is even before I kick on the dirt, and then its just an army tank hooked up to nitrous and armed with a nuclear reactor. Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders, 500k pots with Sprague orange tone capacitor. Thunderbird neck pickup in the bridge position replacing that terrible jazz clickety clicking sound and heavy gauge nickel wound 65-130 D'Adario's. and of couse its gotta have an upgraded pick guard in TORT!

Sounds a bit like my double humbuckers Blacktop P-Bass

When I lived upstate in Troy we had a huge window unit that could chill our entire flat. Does this unit drain to a pan that you'll need to dump?

Small world. I lived right off Hoosick Ave. which is Route 7 in Troy, Sycaway and Brunswick on the way out to Vermont. For kicks my older brother and I use to ride our 10-spds to Vermont.

Yellow is pretty nasty, I dont believe Ive ever seen a Tortoise in that color.

That photo helps a lot. It confirms that yes, the bass was inspected and that it was made in China and most importantly - that you shouldn't throw it away!

Can anyone help me with the weight on a Gibson Thunderbird. I've been offered one in a trade but concerned that it will be too heavy to use comfortably, but have heard they're lighter than Precisions. The guy offering hasn't any scales!

My 2013 Gibson TBird IV is less than 8 lbs. when weighed without the strap. I guess I got one of the lighter ones.

Gibson Thunderbird IV are fairly light and haven't heard anyone complain about the weight of them. Although the Gibson Thunderbird Studios can weigh 10-11 lbs.

Thinking about it, it doesn't seem to often for someone to ask about the weight of a Thunderbird when buying one, at least on TB classifieds. Maybe because they are not as common as 7ender's and we gotta take what we can get, but I've seen someone lose interest in a 7ender because it was .5 lbs. too heavy.
