There is a point of deminishing returns.
I went from heavy handed to a much lighter touch through the years. But, at least for me, even the lightest touch with stupid low action doesn't always work out.
But lower is better then higher in my case.

The more I play, the stronger my hands get, especially the left hand/fingers which then leave me in better position to both dig-in and to also play with finesse. More variety of touch = more nuance of expression. It's all pretty subtle but at the end of the day I feel I have more control of my input/tone. In a recent bass player mag article, Sting said he prefers to play 'behind the amp' meaning I think he has to play more physically as his amp isn't as loud as it could be. This offers a certain character of tone because of the need to 'push' the output/tone more aggressively with ones fingers. I've tried it and like it, but I also like playing with the amp volume a bit higher and being more delicate with my fingers. Less of a workout physically. Both have +'s and I try to mix it up depending on the music.

Uncle & Aunty were at Kelowna until they passed away. They met when my Uncle was posted to Canada by the RAAF during WW2.
Cousin Pete is just outside Edmonton- loves the Oilers but exasperated lately;
Cousin Diane is just outside Whitehorse.
The various kids and their families are around Vancouver mostly and in Alberta.

Pete from Edmonton? I know Pete, met him at Tim Hortons. We talked about Conner McDavid, who I also met at Tim Hortons.

Ah man nobody ever moves to Winnipeg they only leave here. I spent about 5 years in Vancouver as a young kid and I hope I can at least get back there for my retirement. Got relatives in Alberta too.

My Uncle was a "gun"* mechanic and after the war they were married and were living in Sydney where Diane and Pete were born.
Eventually the Mother in Laws entreaties could be ignored no longer. However they moved way up somewhere well away from M-in-L, he got a job as Manager of an airfield way up north somewhere, (my Dads story) is that planes had to drop in provisions during the the long winters etc. They moved from Sydney in the late 50s (58/59 I think) and eventually they made their way to Kelowna.

Cuz' are well Canadianised by now, and married Canadians. They are great folks, I really like all of them. Hoping to get there sometime in the next 5 years or so for a good visit and look around while we are all young (?) enough.

* Aussie for top, best etc

I dearly love Canada, have only been across all of southern B.C, Vancouver, quite a few times and Vancouver Island, which is simply stunning.

About a month/25000 posts ago, I posted pics of the bridge from ETBIV Pro, which is basically a standard high mass style bridge, stuck on my Goth. No shims were necessary in this case. The saddles needed to be raised but not an excessive amount.
